I think I detect the fine hand of Steven Miller

in Trump's insistence that the Democrats can end the separation of children from their families with a phone call. The phone call would be to agree to fully fund the fucking wall. Trump/Miller is using this cruel policy to force the Democrats to choose between suffering children and their principles. Trump continues to try to muddy the waters so his "base" won't catch on, but I think the message is pretty clear. They tried it with DACA, and the Democrats stood fast. Now they've upped the ante to unspeakable cruelty and are going to continue to insist that it's up to the Democrats to end it.

if he suddenly declared north korea was a threat tomorrow without giving any reason they would agree .

they would ask no questions about what happened between the time he claimed everything was ok and then.

as long as he keeps people of color from coming into the country and attacking the ones here they are just fine with him.

even if democrats agreed to a wall it's unlikely he would change policy of the kids .

3. Report: Trump Adviser Stephen Miller Pushed for Border Separation Policy

White House adviser Stephen Miller was the driving force behind President Trump’s decision to enforce the family separation policy at U.S. borders, according to The New York Times. Unlike Trump, who has publicly claimed to hate the practice, Miller told the Times it was a “simple decision.” “No nation can have the policy that whole classes of people are immune from immigration law or enforcement. … The message is that no one is exempt from immigration law,” he was quoted as saying. The immigration hardliner had argued in recent months for “zero tolerance” policies and a new way to end the common practice of “catch and release,” which allowed illegal immigrants to be released into the country while their cases were being processed. Miller also reportedly pushed Trump and other White House officials to begin using deterrence policies, and after border numbers spiked in April, he was said to have been instrumental in convincing Trump to resort to the “nuclear option” now so widely being condemned as inhumane.

Trump is the one saying, "Give me what I want and you can stop making me do this." Give him what he wants, though, and he'll use the same threat to get more.
