From Seattle's St. Mark's (Episcopal) to St. James (Catholic) Cathedral, a procession for immigrants

at the border on Thursday, June 21 at 7 pm.

On Thursday, June 21 at 7:00pm all are invited to join a prayerful vigil and procession beginning at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral (1245 Tenth Avenue East) and ending at St. James Roman Catholic Cathedral (804 Ninth Avenue). As people of faith, we stand in solidarity with all the migrants and asylum-seekers who come to our borders, fleeing violence or simply seeking a better life for their families. We protest the inhumane separation of children from their parents. We urge our government to allow victims of domestic violence and gang violence to seek asylum in this country. This will be an opportunity to gather together for prayer, and to bring our prayerful witness to the streets of our city.

“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you
as the native among you, and you shall love that one as yourself,
for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God”

(Leviticus 19:34).

A Prayer for Migrant Families

Lord God,
in your eyes no one is a stranger, an outsider, an “illegal.”
Protect all who come to our borders in search of a better future for their families.
Touch the hearts of our leaders that families may be reunited
and justice may be tempered with mercy.
Heal the pain of those who undergo separation and keep the children safe from all harm.
Show us how to be generous and to make room for others in this land,
for we are all your sons and daughters.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
