A Not-So-Friendly Reminder for the GOP

If you are supporting taking children away from families at the border, you might want to remember that we – Democrats and other decent people – will use this against you in every election cycle for at least the next six years, and possibly longer. There’s nothing that will turn voters against you like reminding them – over and over – of your support for this practice, or your silence in not condemning it.

For those of you working in the “facilities” that are warehousing children in cages, you’d best keep in mind that you may inevitably be investigated and questioned about your involvement, and your treatment of these children. If you are even vaguely aware of history, you already know that “I was just following orders” is not an acceptable excuse. It didn’t work for concentration camp guards, and it won’t work for you.

The fact that people are being prevented from viewing the facilities these children are being held in has already led to the obvious conclusion that their accommodation and treatment are things that need to be hidden from view. Therefore, anyone employed in these facilities might want to think about lawyering-up now. And anyone who thinks they are somehow beyond the reach of justice would be well-served to remember that’s what Paul Manafort thought, too.

Elected representatives who are planning to run for re-election to your current office should be aware that your political opponent will be well-armed with sufficient material to take you down – and it won’t take much. There is audio now available, and just a simple 30-second commercial with the sound of wailing, traumatized children crying for their parents will go a long way to reminding your would-be supporters just who – or more accurately what you are.

Those Republicans who have political ambitions to seek higher office in future need to know that this issue won’t be forgotten anytime soon – or perhaps ever. Just like no one has ever forgotten the films and photos of Auschwitz or Treblinka, no one will forget the sights and sounds that are now emanating from the facilities that are holding these children.

You Republicans have now established yourselves as the party of Trump – an incompetent idiot who’s entire “presidency” is already mired in lies, sex scandals, indictments, corruption, and collusion with our nation’s enemies. Well, congratulations! You have now taken the next step by becoming the party of kidnapping, traumatizing and abusing children in order to use them as political pawns whose suffering your “president” hopes will bend Democrats to his will.

If you are delusional enough to believe that the emotional torture of children is something that will fade from the public’s memory within the next news cycle or so, guess again. This is NOT going away because decent human beings – those at home and around the world – will be here to make sure that NO ONE EVER FORGETS your complicity in this crime against humanity.

You created this travesty, you own it, and before too long, you will pay the price for your treachery.

Well-said, as usual.

Do you mind if I copy part of this to email to my abhorrent TN Senators? You have spoken more powerfully than I could.

Yes, we WILL remember what they are doing and we will remember for years to come. I am NOT above throwing it in their faces at the slightest provocation.

Keep writing! We love reading your posts.

crimes against humanity. All associated with Trump's child abuse must suffer the consequences. Public whippings would be a good start. These immoral reprobate scumbags are worse than Charles Manson, as they act under the color of law.
