I'm reminded of the beginning of a song in the 60's counterculture musical "Hair", it dealt with the hypocrisy of those who "patriotically" wave the flag and yet, by their actions, denigrate its ideals: "Holding the flag is taking care of the nation. Folding the flag is putting it to bed for the night. I fell through a hole in the flag. I'm falling through a hole in the flag. HEEELLLPP! I never thought I'd actually viscerally experience just that feeling.
