We keep hearing that anti-Trump isn't good/effective messaging.
Given where we are and how quickly we're descending into authoritarianism, wouldn't a winning message simply be Pro-Democracy? Seriously. It's that stark of a contrast now.
A Pro-Democracy platform would cover defending the right to vote, ending gerrymandering, campaign finance reform, ending corporations' stranglehold over politics; in theory, a Democracy cares about the well-being of ALL people and the environment which sustains us.
PRO-DEMOCRACY vs Authoritarianism.
That's where we are.
Rather like married couples renewing their vows, we need to renew our commitment to Democracy.
(I realize we're a democratic republic, but hopefully you get my point re: the basic premise of democracy vs authoritarian regimes.)

(22,920 posts)as I said -- do we want to be a Democracy or not, given what's currently manifesting which is anti-Democracy.
It's also easier for people to wrap their heads around.
But I hear you.
