That seems to be the battle lines that have been drawn.
Republicans believe they can say, "It's the law", and that supersedes all other aspects of the issue of immigration and family separation. However, the latest poll shows that 66% of the American people disagree with them.
They have gotten themselves into a pickle.
Democrats believe that "laws" must have a moral principle. It is immoral to take small children away from their parents, especially when it is not necessary, only for spite or political advantage. The majority of the American people stand with the Democrats on this issue.
Now, Trump and his Republican collaborators must find a way to walk it back, while trying to save face and blaming someone else.

(6,535 posts)It's not even a "law and order" issue...Sessions, Miller, Fuckface are doing this to intentionally terrorize these families, and basically scare off anyone thinking of trying to come to the U.S.
Seeking asylum from war, gang violence, or some other horrible situation? Well you'd better not try to come to the U.S. for help; they'll just take your children and then deport you back to where you came from.
These are truly awful people, and I don't see how they can blame anyone else for this. Maybe this horrific episode will wake up a few people, I dunno...whatever else, the separation of families needs to end.
