Distressingly, my county has voted strongly Republican in the last two presidential elections, and I saw several McCain/Palin yard signs until at least 2011.
Each year a neighboring town hosts a "Steam Show," which is a very cool showcase of vintage tractors, engines and farm equipment. In previous years, the sentiment at this event has run sharply to the right; I once posted a pic of the "Freedom Fries" vendor, for instance, and GOP bumper stickers are visible in great numbers in the parking lot.
But yesterday my wife noted that she didn't see any Romney bumper stickers. At that point I started looking, and we couldn't find a single one.
I'm hoping that this is an indication of how November will pan out for Mittens.

(6,581 posts)I still see cars with Ron Paul 12 stickers, some could be leftovers from '08, I haven't seen a single Rmoney sticker yet. There are a fairly good number of Obama 2012 stickers.
I too take this as a very good sign. There may be anti-Obama enthusiasm from the nutters, but there doesn't seem to be any pro-Mittens crowd out there. That kind of surprises me, too, because I drive right through the middle of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, every week day to and from work, which is Rmoney's home town from decades past when his father George was CEO of American Motors and then Governor of Michigan, and also the site of Cranbrook Academy, home of the assault on the gay student in the 1960s. If anywhere should have Rmoney stickers, it should be this very affluent, very upscale, very old money, non-teabagger wing of the Republican party crowd. But nothing. And I know I saw McCain stickers on the luxury cars back in 2008.
