I am naturalized citizen, who was originally German. My father immigrated here from Germany because he felt the Germans were being too "East Friendly" during the student revolution in the late 60's. He told me that what happened in Germany, in the 1920s through the 1940s, would never happen in America because America is a "too easygoing country". He got us all naturalized.

I now feel ashamed of having the American Citizenship, I'd much rather carry the German. Bad things happened in Germany's past, but the populace learned. This country here (the U.S.) has never been defeated on its own soil, so large elements of the population knows no real shame. Terrible things will need to happen to this land before people wake up, but I don't want them to happen. But they might still... (warning and foreshadowing...)

I am uplifted by the negative response to the child detentions. Maybe this will bring about some of the change we need. It seems to me that a lot of Americans are still in touch with their humanity...

I thought cartoonists were supposed to exaggerate a subject's features to make it funny.

Till I went on Rob's Twitter feed.

The Network has an annual courage award.

CRNI a human rights organization focused on protecting the rights of editorial cartoonists around the world. The basis for our international efforts is Article 19 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, which acknowledges the universal right of individuals to express themselves freely and without fear or censorship.
Each year we give the Courage Award to a cartoonist who is in danger for one reason: for expressing his or her free speech rights. We do not award a cartoon. We make no comment on the quality or intent of a specific cartoon. We award a cartoonist under threat or attack.

We will not award a cartoonist if, in the majority view of our Board, his or her work advocates violence or hate.

… I love swiping this cartoon.... but it's nice to have the links, also, because Rob Rogers can get some support, and sharing to social media directly from him.
