...if they stand up to trump, his base will turn on them, and without that minority's support they'll never win another election. Standing by while trump destroys the country will cost them all the moderate republicans, (yes, they still exist) and independents. And they can't win elections without them, either. Between a rock and a hard place. But I prefer...caught between the devil (trump) and the deep blue sea (the blue wave).
They brought this on themselves and they should all lose their elections and rot in hell for what they're doing to my country.

The one we see playing out before our eyes on a daily basis with the hate messaging and being treated like animals, requiring a wall to keep them out.
The other is the under the table hiring at low wages that helps depress wages for unskilled workers everywhere.
The Republicans depend on the status quo to stay in power. The problem would dry up in a hurry if jail time was handed out to all of those doing the illegal hiring. Let them spend time in cages and see what happens.
