And now, the rest of the story...

In my opinion, the recent IG report on the Clinton email investigation did not tell the full story.

Hillary Clinton was not the only victim in a right-wing attack upon the FBI, the Justice Department, and even, the institution of Congress itself.

Senior FBI officials, some retired, worked with Rudy Guiliani to find dirt on Hillary Clinton and to promote negative stories against her right up to the election. Guiliani bragged about it on FOX News. Much like Donald Trump, he could not keep his big mouth shut.

Guiliani, with his network of NY FBI officials, passed information to the House Intel Committee, most specifically, Devin Nunes. They worked hand in hand with the White House in tearing down the reputation of Hillary Clinton.

In doing so, they tore apart the House Intel Committee, one of the most trusted institutions in the entire Congress. Trump was able to divide them along Party lines, with the assistance of Paul Ryan and Devin Nunes. They conspired together to get James Comey to agree to report to Congress any further information about Clinton's emails. Comey was intimidated by Trey Gowdy, Jason Chaffetz, and others to go along with them.

Comey received information in late September that Hillarys emails were on Anthony Weiner's home computer. Guiliani and Nunes already had the information and had informed Comey that if he did not re-open the Clinton investigation, they would go public with it. Comey was put in an unbearable situation. If Nunes had gone public with the information about Hillary's new emails, Comey and the FBI would have appeared to be covering up for Hillary Clinton. Comey went thru the motions of another investigation, only to find Hillary innocent of any wrongdoing once again. But, the damage had already been done.

And, in my opinion, that is the rest of the story that the IG report did not give us...

2. Yes. It came out last week in the IG report that Comey found out...

in September about the allegedly "new" emails on Weiner's laptop.

I find it unbelievable that Comey did not have that laptop examined during that time, that he did not find that those "new" emails were just duplicates of those already found.

We're talking about from late Sept. to late Oct. when he sent the letter to Chaffetz about re-opening the email investigation.

Comey and others want us to believe that that laptop was just put on a shelf somewhere and was not examined until Comey sent the Oct. 28, 2016 letter to Chaffetz.

Come on. Who believes that? IMO Comey, the rogue FBI agents in the NY FBI office and Ghouliani had to have found, during that whole month from late Sept. to late Oct., that there was nothing new there so it becomes pretty damn obvious that a plan was developed to spring this on the country 11 days before the election to tilt it to trump.

And remember how quickly after the 28th or Oct. it was found that the "new" emails were duplicates—what was it, 5 or 6 days later they announced the emails on Weiner's laptop were duplicates?

So we're supposed to believe that no one examined that laptop for a month from late Sept. to late Oct.?

Yeah, right .

We're also supposed to believe the cover story that Comey was being pressured by the rogue agents to go public before they did on the "new" emails yet nothing happened to these insubordinated agents who threaten their boss. Also consider Ghouliani's brag on national TV in late October 2016 that "something big" was coming soon, and it did.

IMO it was all planned and those partisan hacks were in on helping swing the election purposely to trump.

4. I don't think Comey was going to come forward with Wiener's computer files at all....

....until he was forced to do it by Nunes and Republicans in the House. He could have said "No", but it would have reflected very badly on he and the FBI, although he knew there was nothing on Wiener's computer he had not already seen. They exerted undue influence on Comey, in my opinion.

3. I replied to your post already and thank you for the OP, but one thing...

doesn't make sense. Comey, the rogue agents and Ghouliani, Nunes, et all knew in late Sept. '16 about the "new" emails on Weiner's laptop but who believes that none of them examined that laptop for a whole month, from late Sept. to late Oct. '16?

IMO of course someone did. No one sits on that kind of inflammatory info for a month without examining it, so they had to know the emails were duplicates and that leads us to a conclusion.

It was all a set-up to help swing the election to trump and the "Comey being pressured by rogue agents" was just a cover story for Comey.

It wasn't supposed to come out that Comey knew about Weiner's laptop in Sept. not late Oct.

5. I believe Comey, like most of America, thought Hillary was going to win the election...

He was attempting to appease the right-wingers that were attacking him, the FBI, and the Justice Department.

I think he knew there was nothing to incriminate Hillary Clinton.

Although possible, I do not think he was part of a set-up to swing the election to Trump because he knew Trump was an international criminal, who had escaped justice for decades.

on the laptop, but I don't think that Comey, despite his goody-two-shoes image, was naive enough to believe such a late revelation of a re-opening of the email investigation would not effect the election. Especially since he also knew about the trump/Putin/bot connection.

Comey was an old Washington hand not a novice.

7. Most people thought Hillary was going to win despite the 2nd email investigation...

....and I think Comey thought likewise. After all, he cleared her in both investigations. But he allowed himself to be used by the right-wing, beginning with his report on the first investigation where he declared Hillary "extremely careless" in the use of her server. But he found no evidence of wrongdoing or intent of any criminal act. Our entire system was used and abused by the right-wing attack machine in the last election. No one was exempt.
