'Complicit piece of s---': Kathy Griffin lashes out at Melania Trump
Controversial comedian Kathy Griffin has hit out at Melania Trump, labelling the US First Lady a "feckless complicit piece of s---", following revelations Donald Trump's zero-tolerance immigration policy had separated as many as 2,000 children from their parents in the past six weeks.
"F--- you, Melanie," Griffin wrote in a viral tweet, mispelling Trump's name. "You know damn well your husband can end this immediately...".
Griffin's lashing – directly referencing late night comedian Samantha Bee’s recent "feckless c---" attack on Melania, which drew demands from the White House her show be axed – was in response to a statement from the First Lady saying she "hates to see children separated from their families and hopes both sides of the aisle can finally come together to achieve successful immigration reform".
In the wake of criticism, and a campaign from Trump's followers urging clubs to cancel her upcoming performances following her tweet, Griffin defended her comments.
