White House pushes back on Laura Bush criticism of family separation

By Brett Samuels - 06/18/18 05:57 PM EDT

The Trump administration on Monday pushed back against criticism from former first lady Laura Bush of its “zero tolerance” policy that has led to the separation of migrant families.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen blamed past administrations, including George W. Bush’s, for signing off on laws that led to the current crisis.

“Frankly, this law was actually signed into effect in 2008 under [Laura Bush’s] husband’s leadership, not under this administration,” Sanders said during Monday’s press briefing.

“We’re not the ones responsible for creating this problem. We’ve inherited it,” she added. “But we’re actually the first administration stepping up and trying to fix it.” .......

But wait, I thought it was the Democrats fault. Oh no, my mistake, it is Obama’s fault. Or maybe it is Hillary’s email server’s fault?

After all the other First Ladies have spoken out against her husband's lame policy to separate parents fleeing violence from their children, I guess we can always count on Melania to come up with some lame statement, 'from the heart' instead of telling that asshole she's parading as First Lady with, that those Refugees could have been ME, and those children could have been my child or your children with Ivana; so shut the hell up and do what you can to help those families and stop trying to hurt them; or Me and Baron are out of here.

This Nation doesn't need to hear her Mousy 'heartfelt tweets' when the person causing all this misery is sleeping in the same building with her and her child. Now it might not do a damn thing for her marriage but then honestly, can it get any worse?????

the bill that Bush signed in 2008 was an anti-trafficking statute that requires UNACCOMPANIED minors to be transferred out of immigration centres within 72 hours. It says NOTHING about separating children from the parents who are accompanying them.

They are old money and pretend to have a lot of class. You will hear nothing.

But there are phone calls being made. They(the family, not 43) are smart enough to see where this is heading for Republicans. No where good.

Trump just gives his blessing to whatever this partial-birth abortion of a man comes up with.

Sorry, I am running out of pejorative language to describe these bastards. I am mentally and spiritually exhausted, as I can't believe the extent of the evil shadow that covers our land today.
