If youre a Trump supporter, you are dead to me. I do not want to see you, hear from you, or even acknowledge your existence.
I do not recognize you as a fellow citizen. In fact, I do not recognize you as a fellow human being.
There are children terrified, traumatized, innocent children who are locked in cages right now, crying for their parents. YOU put them there.
There are parents suffering the emotional torture of not knowing where their children are, or how they are being treated. YOU are inflicting that torture.
The only thing that gives me joy right now is knowing that YOU are about to suffer. Your pResident and his spineless Republican enablers are planning massive cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security cuts they say are necessary in order to pay for the massive tax cuts they just gave the wealthiest people in the country.
Id love to be there when you realize that your social security check has been whittled down to nothing, or when you cant afford the medicine you need to stay alive. Id be more than happy to remind you that YOU are getting exactly what you voted for and what you deserve. Maybe you can contact your Trump-loving Republican reps the millionaires who actually got those massive tax cuts and listen to them laugh at your misery as they ignore your pleas for help.
And you know what? Ill be laughing right along with them because youre already dead to me anyway, so why should I give a fuck if your existence ends in poverty, pain and utter despair?
If youre a Trump supporter, you are responsible for the suffering of every child now held in a cage, every citizen who is facing bankruptcy due to medical bills they cant afford, every hard-working American who is now responsible for paying off the debt your pResident and his party created to enrich themselves while you got the crumbs off their table.
I used to feel sorry for you because your own abject stupidity had blinded you to the obvious fact that youve been had.
But seeing children locked in cages, crying for their mothers and their fathers, put a quick end to any sympathy I may have felt for YOU, the people responsible for their fear, their suffering, their endless tears.
At this point, the only interaction with a Trump supporter I would welcome is an invitation to their funeral an event I would happily attend in a red sequined dress, a festive feather-strewn hat, and a bag full of fireworks to mark the joyous occasion of their removal from our midst.

(16,940 posts)Tearing apart a family in dire straights - looking for a chance of hope and a future - having a child/children taken from them and NOT KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT THEM - THAT is a "little radical."
I think I know what you meant - but we have crossed the line in the sand. AMERICA DOES NOT DESTROY FAMILIES!!!!!!!
We were founded on the belief of hope and dreams - and we (OK, not those of us here at DU, but "we" as the controlling leaders) are reaching into the hearts and minds of these people and destroying their dreams, AND their every-day existence!!!!!!!!
Imagine if you do continue your visit to your "Trump-loving" family and suddenly you're pulled over, taken out of your car, and sent off to who knows where. Do you think THAT is a little radical?
I'm sorry if I'm hitting too hard. I believe you mean well and you're thousands of miles ahead of any of "them!"

They are not distant family members, either, and we were once close so it's hard. But I don't recognize them anymore and they have no humanity right now as far as I'm concerned. Their support for this horrendous action and complete lack of concern for those affected was the final straw. I don't give a shit if I get flack from other family, either (my family on both sides is all over the place politically and religiously). For those who are most likely to give shit, I've been taking shit from them for years, so fuck it.

(27,820 posts)... with one of my half-sisters after she joyously announced that she was ecstatic over Trump's election. Not a great loss - she's a typical dumbass bitch who makes fun of immigrants who "can't speak English" despite the fact that her own grasp of the language (having been born and raised in the US) is so poor, I used to have to read her emails using a Dumbass-to-English dictionary.
One of my other sisters is a Trumpette - my communication with her is now restricted to "liking" her FaceBook photos of her children and grandchildren. Other than that, we do not speak at all.
It's a terrible situation for all of us who have been forced to choose between family and our core principles. I, too, was once close to this sister who is now, for all intents and purposes, dead to me.

The really annoying part is that she's liking everything I post with the latest outrage perpetrated by 45. Every time she does I want to scream THIS IS PARTIALLY YOUR FAULT, YOU DON'T GET TO BE OUTRAGED NOW.

(13,776 posts)I'm really fortunate in that my family and even my extended family are all intelligent and sane, so with one exception there are no Trump voters in our midst.
It's just so awful that the president of the United States of America, for heaven's sake, whom none of us will ever meet (thank goodness), is so incredibly divisive that families are being driven apart by him. Sure, this happened with Obama, but it wasn't because of Obama, who was accused of doing bad things but never actually did them. Trump is literally driving our country into a ditch while his supporters cheer him on, because they're so stupid.
On the other hand, as you said, they have no humanity right now, so fuck it.

(23,351 posts)As a parent chaperone of 30 kids ranging in age from 13 to 16 for a cultural immersion trip. One of the kids is a tRump humping teen who is quite vocal about his love for all things tRump. He yells MAGA randomly to get people to react. Day one of this trip he was talking loudly about how his idol had successfully disarmed NK of their nukes. I corrected him simply by saying that no - NK had not in fact been disarmed. Ever since then, he will do his best to bait me and other kids, parents and teachers as a sick game. He will sigh when one of us walks by and say I feel sad for Democrats, I really do. Their life as they know it is over... among other asshole comments. Tonight we were walking back to the hotel after dark along a very dark street and my sandal caught the edge of a broken cobble stone. I fell hard and scraped up my leg and elbow...this kid was right behind me and he muttered thats Democrat karma right there. And to then he laughed. I didnt say a word...my 13 year old son helped me up and put his arm in mine in support. Later, back at the hotel my son asked what is wrong with him? Even if he loves tRump, why cant he just be a good person? And thats when it hit me...they are NOT good people. They are devoid of humanity and empathy. They are a cancer to our nation and civil society. They are lost causes and should be dead to all of us. Ive got nothing in my heart for them.

(155 posts)Trump is the result of the conservative movement's (and the right-wing conservative religious movement) to move the United States from a democracy to an autocratic theocracy. Why do some many right-wing religious leaders have residences in Russia? Russia is the leader of conservative evangelical Christianity and the right wing religious movement wants to introduce the same here in the United States. They don't care about American democracy. They want Russian style autocracy here in the United States. Therefore, the whole Russian collusion thing is beyond Trump. The goals of the right wing are much more broad. The Progressive movement so far does not have a response to this. I am not sure we can count on the American people as evidenced by so many Trump loving Americans that don't mind being ruled by a fascist or autocrat. The Progressive movement must mount an attack with no sympathy on the right wing, the religious right, Trump supporters, and Fox News especially. To believe that Trump is losing is I think naive. We are in a slow moving coup by Republicans and the religious right with strong Russian ties. I am not sure the mid terms will be enough to stop this. The Democratic Party does not have the guts to fight this.

(2,541 posts)I cannot either. I completely understand the emotion and visceral hatred that prompts a post of this nature. The audio, the images and segments like last nights TRMS have certainly elicited the same emotions from me. Child abuse is a terrible thing and it should make people mad and angry. I hope that the lawsuit/s I read about being filed over this have the ability to bring significant consequences to Trump/Miller/Sessions and all others involved in this. However I cannot say that I would celebrate the funeral and dance on a persons grave. This will end at some point. Trump and his cabinet/admin will be out of office eventually and people who supported him are still going to be co-workers and neighbors and people who I interact with daily.

(194 posts)into a raging hatred. Cutting off our communications with them (or 'sending them to Coventry" as the British do) will be their worst punishment. This rational response deprives them of our good company, and we don't ever have to listen to their ignorance, bigotry, and hatefulness which they soon will turn against each other for not being Trumpian enough.
We've seen the Jill Steiners turn against the Democratic Party and hand Trump and all the Republican Congress critters their election victories because the other 98% of Progressives didn't agree 100% with every single policy detail that the Jill Steins and the Susan Sarandons turned into purity tests.
Here on DU, we often hold varied viewpoints, but our hearts and minds are united in the knowledge that only the Democratic Party, such as we see in state governments like California's, can fight against and defeat the egregiously greedy, iniquitous, mendacious and heartless policies and politics of Trump, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Rupert Murdoch, Rush Limbaugh, Evangelical theocrats, Koch Bros etc., etc. etc.

(408 posts)you know. LOTS of voters between 18 and 65 voted for that moron.
We're in our 70's, on Railroad Retirement which has to follow the same rules as SSI. We have Medicare which we pay for. We also have voted Democratic since 1979. so thanks for lumping us in with the idiots who voted for trump. Their pain is going to be ours as well.
Not 65 yet, so not getting Medicare or Social Security. The cuts proposed to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security won't just affect the Trump humpers, they'll affect sane/decent people too.
NanceGreggs
(27,820 posts)But Democratic voters saw it coming - because they know the Republicans ALWAYS try to gut programs that the middle-class rely on.
However, it's going to come as a shock to a lot of Trump voters - who foolishly believed that Trump is a champion of the working stiff, and wouldn't dream of doing anything that would harm them, his loyal, ass-licking base.
Republican voters invariably fall for the same old GOP bullshit - and then act shocked!, time after time, when their own pocketbooks get hit.
You'll notice that the Republicans aren't touting their "massive tax breaks" anymore - because they know the middle-class has now realized that those tax breaks resulted in crumbs for them, and a cash windfall for the wealthy.
I only focused on Medicare, Medicaid and SS because the GOP just announced their plans to gut those programs.
I wasn't "lumping you in" with Trump voters. You obviously didn't vote for the Idiot. I was addressing those who did vote for him, and are about to find out they've been conned - bigly.

(5,272 posts)progress is made going forward. You could bully and cajole hateful actors into civility if you had the power and the numbers. If you don't, there is no choice but to change hearts and minds. Good luck with an isolationist policy when one of the main problems here IS that these people are already living in their own bubbles of community and reality.
What needs to happen is that those bubbles need to be infiltrated...popped...etc. Oxygen needs to get in. Your methodology will not achieve that. You can't stop seeing others humanity and have a prayer of helping to get them to see the humanity of others. You can't withhold empathy to generate empathy.
People can have a change of heart. We have seen it time and time again. It is the main thrust of how civil rights have been fought for in this nation. We can work to make that happen.
Or hell, maybe it will literally take another Civil War. Such a war is of course, not likely to happen in this day and age, to speak nothing of just how catastrophic one would actually be.
Or do you think we can wait until power is finally wrested from the hands of white men(in particular)...as if that itself could change the dynamic of cruelty that our sociopathic ladders to power foster...

Mr granddaughter graduated from high school and we received an invitation. Thank goodness we had a very good reason to "unfortunately" decline. My husband was retiring on the very day she was graduating. A retirement party had been planned for him by his coworkers for quite some time. I was grateful that we had an excuse not to go. I love my grandchildren, however, I find it hard to be around my daughter and especially her opinionated republican husband. I certainly do not hate my daughter but until she "wakes up", I am afraid we have very little in common. My husband, thank goodness, has become more and more progressive as time goes on.
