Because...
Words create division, and the division creates chaos, and the chaos creates confusion, and the confusion creates anger, and the anger leads to violence.
Is that the direction we are headed?

(6,402 posts)If you take the bigger picture view of things going in this direction for 40+ years, it's going to hit that point. To view it as just a "since 1/20/17" thing ignores the bigger tectonic movements.

(67,112 posts)is literally functioning in many ways as two countries. I think this is going to continue and escalate as Trump brings more and more individuals of like mind in to SCOTUS (possibly) as well as the court systems. We also have an ever increasing level of ignorance in this country about how the government operates. Layered on top of this is never-ending hatred in this country. It's hard to go anyplace where about half of the country does not hate you because of the propaganda they are continuously fed.

(111,110 posts)...once there is violence, then that will be analogous to the Reichstag fire in Germany, one month after Hitler was sworn in as Chancellor.

Jim Adkisson, Dylann Roof, Jason Dalton, etc. are features of what the radical right has planned, not bugs of the right wing's agenda.
This isn't accidental... we saw this when the Republicans thought it was better to just hold your nose and vote for Roy Moore. The almost-election of that disgusting creep needs to be a wake up call for us.

(12,511 posts)When a CNN or NYT "fake" news reporter is beat up or shot dead by a Trumpster I will not be surprised.
If you listen to Trump's vitriol against reporters, especially at his ego-boost rallies he likes to speechify his so-called accomplishments, you can clearly read between the lines that he would like to see someone in the news biz get hurt.
