This was a planned event -- by someone other than Melania.

The only other jacket I heard that Melania wore cost $50,000, IIRC.

This jacket cost $39. I highly doubt that Melania would have known about the place that sold the jacket. She doesn't wear $39 items of clothing, especially jackets like that.

So someone saw it, suggested it, and it was procured as a stunt. Purpose - distraction, pandering, and so forth.

That it also sends a big up yours to her husband ... maybe, but I doubt it.

I recently looked at a book in which the author discussed Melania. She is not portrayed as a trophy wife done wrong:

I do not recommend the book. I realized immediately that it was an ode to Trump, but read the chapter or two about Melania.

The long and short to me is that she's chary of speaking directly to reporters, as she's sure to be lambasted for plagiarism or banality or her accent, but she's aware of her image in the press and doesn't like it.

They are all that, I'll grant you. And the insensitivity. It's just the malice I'm having trouble believing. Trump yes, Sessions yes, but I don't think Melania meant to twist the knife. And Trump and Sessions are both backpedaling to beat the band and know they screwed the pooch so I don't see Melania pouring gas on the fire. But then again I could be wrong . . .

Even if she'd pulled it off it wouldn't have done any good as I suspect Trump had his Chris Christy moment and will never fully recover. But then if he starts a war all bets are off so the worst may still be ahead. . .

That's how stupid and sociopathic he is.. but this is going to be Front and Center for a LONG LONG TIME.. those poor KIDS need to get back to their parents. And, although trump has no intention of letting that happen.
