General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIt is not a secret that I have no respect for or patience with Trump supprters. Occasionally, when
one of my posts features that attitude, some feel compelled to "scold" me for "looking for trouble" or refusing to "reach out" to those poor misguided souls who just might vote Democratic if we would just stop insulting them and "reason" with them.
We are dealing with a group of people who are driven by hatred and resentment and who routinely ignore facts, ridicule truth tellers and believe that might makes right. They worship---and that's not just a figure of speech---Donald Trump and would be happy to elect him "Supreme Leader For Life". Despite their insistence that they are "good Christians", if given the chance to meet Jesus or Trump, most would choose the Orange One.
I live among these people. My county voted over 75% for McCain, Romney and, of course, Trump. So, I've seen these people up close and personal for quite a while. My wife and have picketed Tea Party gatherings in public spaces, posted "Impeach Trump" signs along public highways and our vehicles have too many anti-Trump and pro-Democrat signs to list.
What to this boils down to is YES, I know much of what I do and say offends Trump's worshippers. That is EXACTLY what I intend! They richly deserve to be upset. They deserve to be offended. They are not nice people. If they are offended by the truth, that is their problem.
And, you might be surprised how many people in this RED community quietly thank me for wearing those "offensive" tee shirts, writing those "inflammatory" LTE's and having all those "extreme" stickers and signs on my car.
Scold me if that blows your hair back, but I ain't changin'.

(7,838 posts)we all need to do our share! You are correct, these people have deep hatred in them. Most of them can tell you how this country got to were it is today, the Liberals and Progressives did it because they all heard it on Fox News!

(53,410 posts)I finally learned the hard lesson to grasp that theyve stopped learning anything decades ago. Theyve made up their minds and they think youre just trying to trick or confuse them. That just makes them double down. And it makes you come across as smart which only serves to remind them of how stupid they are. Believe me, they hate that.
After you teach them some facts, even if you do it in the most friendly way, they forget it all in moments.
The reason for that is they dont think with their mind. They think only with their emotions. The roiling rage and self pity of their emotions dominates them like a crack addiction.

(3,544 posts)Keep up the good work no matter who disagrees with it. You are absolutely right because you're telling the truth. If it offends them, so be it. Trumps people are a cult and nothing he says or does will change them. Hell, they would drink cyanide kool aid if he told them it would make them richer. That's how far gone they are. +

(8,445 posts)One of my sons told me I shouldn't let politics get in the way of relationships. I have tried to explain that if someone supports -45, it's a deal-breaker for me because it tells me exactly who they are. I feel as if they had me fooled when I thought I liked them, but now their dark, ugly self is out for me to see. I feel enlightened that I now know the truth about them.
I don't want or need them in my life.

(29,205 posts)had my tires slashed in the store parking lot because I had an Obama sticker... just one sticker.
Had Trumpazees curse at me because I have a California plate on my car (no bumper stickers) in Arizona.
There is no reaching out to these people.
