(82,849 posts)I would have been quite happy to listen to Rachel detail her conversations with some African Americans. Who were they? When did you talk with them? How well do you have to know some African Americans before they volunteer, unprompted, the details of their upbringing and living situation?
Or is Rachel just talking out her ass?

(34,661 posts)This bullshit was making the rounds on Facebook years ago. Sad to say, don't think this asshole missed any meals so far in her life. Did not live in her car,did not have shoes to wear to school, may have driven through a poor neighborhood on her way to some up scale social event.

In a fine example of the prejudice inherent within privilege, First Mom and Former First Lady Barbara Bush, while "[a]ccompanying her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in Houston" following Hurricane Katrina, said September 5, 2005, "referring to the poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated, 'This is working very well for them.'"
"In a segment at the top of the show on the surge of evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: 'Almost everyone Ive talked to says we're going to move to Houston.
"Then she added: 'What Im hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.
"'And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them.'"
