Stop arguing, just do. Stop hugging them, start hugging refugees, Muslims, GLBTQ, and others. ck4829 Jun 2018 #1

if they have any brains in their heads, we are a nation of immigrants, a melting pot, they are playing the victim that they are entitled and superior to other races of people, and feel that any ethnicity is out to get them. Fuck them.

i remember back in 2016 i was damn sure we were gonna win it all with Hillary Clinton guiding our ship of state steadily into an enlightened future. felt good back then. sometimes things just don't work out that way... i wouldn't count those particular chickens just yet. there's a lot of time between now and November and the levers of power are entirely held by the ruling party. we'll see.

At some level, the more sane Republicans must know the truth, but they're at the doubling down stage.

7. What I did

This evening, I went to pick up a pizza from a place close to the house. (I live in Austin, TX.) We order from them about once a week. As I approached the register to pay, I look over and see one of the teenage employees behind the pizza station wearing a red maga hat. I pay for my pizza, go out to my car, and dial the store’s number. I asked to speak to the owner (I knew she was there because she chatted me up while I was paying for my pizza.)
I told her I bought pizza from her store practically weekly, but I would not buy any more if she let her employees wear maga hats. “I come there for pizza, not politics”. She told me to hold on while she “investigated”... She got back on the phone and apologized, she said she didn’t even notice and that it wouldn’t happen again. I politely thanked her and hung up.
Fuck those red hat wearing assholes. I hardly ever see anyone with one of those ridiculous pieces of shit on their head. I think they must be embarrassed at this point. They should be.

As a 2010 Boston Globe article made clear: http://archive.boston.com/news/science/articles/2010/07/11/how_facts_backfire/

And controlling the narrative is crucial. It's a mistake to think that most will recognize the folly, for instance, of the "liberal media" narrative that's been allowed to dominate for several decades. Because of that, reversing that narrative is beyond challenging.

Even though facts backfire, it's imperative that Trump's daily propaganda be countered for the sake of those who are not super savvy, those who aren't inclined to support Trump but don't pay close attention to politics. Before they come to accept what Trump and other Republicans spew.
