2. They used to be a little more subtle about it. They'd let Dotard rant, but they clammed up.

which the GOP has done with Trump.

A lot of the "Never-Trumpers" much prefer the dog whistles and code words. That's the Republican party they harken back to when expressing their distaste of Trump.

If, even if only once, they talked about the GOP before Trump? They are talking about a time when they pulled a "Willie Horton" - they are speaking of Lee Atwater - they are talking about "welfare queens" and "inner city". They are talking about the Moral Majority and "single mothers" - Phyllis Schlafly and The Eagle Forum. They are talking the Southern Strategy and people like Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond.

They are longing for the day of dog whistles and code phrases - a "kinder, gentler" racism that hides behind euphemism.

Because that Republican Party is part and parcel to the Republican Party before Trump - and it's still there - only a lot more blatant.

And I know there are a few speaking out against Trump and at least one that has even left the GOP - but none of that changes the undeniable racist history of the GOP before Trump. None of it.
