We met with 20-30 women who were in hysterics & don't know where their kids are. Some had been there for over a month & havent had the option to see a lawyer.

One woman had her child taken on June 6. She was told it would just be for 48 hours because she was going to court. Then her child was gone. Since then she has only spoken to daughter once and doesnt know where she is.

Other detainees were deported without their kids. Many at the facility are terrified that will happen to them.

Women were dressed in blue jumpers, men in orange. Basically treated as criminals. One woman said shes been in that same clothing for two weeks.

They are not being updated on the news, and many of the detainees didn't even know about the new Executive Order. They are fed misinformation -- encouraged to fill out paperwork and led to believe they might then be reunited with their kids.

I am horrified by what I have seen in this detention center. It is un-American to secure the border by separating mothers and fathers from their children. We have to reunite these families and do better to give them a humane living situation. What's happening is unacceptable.

It gets more horrible with every new reading of these Congressional visits. Thank you for visiting parents too. We are terrorizing human beings.

It does, but we need this dose of reality. This is truly a humanitarian crisis, so time is of the essence. Thank you for sharing their stories @RepLoisFrankel

Or as Ana Cabrera on "CNN Newsroom" put it earlier today (Sunday the 24th): "If this is what they're willing to show, what AREN'T they willing to show?"

(12,595 posts)If all the congresscritters pulled out their phones at the same time and defied the operators to take them by threatening a contempt of Congress subpoena, I'd bet we'd get a lot more visual and audio information.
BTW, we still haven't gotten any reports from someone who has seen the girls, and especially the babies. I think those pictures and audio would end this horrible practice forever, and hammer another nail into Trump's coffin.

at military bases. One at the Navy's Concord base in California's Bay Area could hold up to 47,000. There's another of similar size being contemplated, and some other smaller ones are also known at this time.
There may be something like 12 million undocumented people living in the U.S., so they could be filled. These people aren't exactly good at administration, so it's likely they'd be filled for atrocity-long times.
What's concerning me is what would America be by then and who might replace undocumented residents in those camps? Considering recommendations for imprisoning and executing drug abusers, I'm thinking they'd make excellent victims, the more so since anyone could be charged and incarcerated.
We need majorities in congress. And more states.
not fooled
(5,801 posts)their plan is to round up and deport 12 million or as close to it as they can get. The "detention facilities" would be used to warehouse undocumented people while their cases are processed. As each individual gets deported another slot opens to allow more raids and apprehensions.
Evil Nazi f*cks.

(58,785 posts)after deporting or blocking entry for most of the seasonal crab processors in 3 states on the Atlantic coast, Americans of course declined to rush to take the jobs. At least they're allowed to decline the jobs now.
But in any case, a Democratic congresswoman or senator for one state, don't remember which, arranged to audit for unused/"lost" work permits that had never been issued and found a bunch. Plus, DHS is now having to issue about 15,000 additional seasonal guest worker visas.
But this is about white nationalism. Not maximizing business profits; perhaps tax breaks for the wealthy are supposed to make up for that. Interesting times.

went to visit to in McAllen she was fighting back tears.
You know all this was going on right under our noses, enacted in May 2018. ICE had been very busy stealing little children from their parents, disgusting.
