Steve Schmidt hammers imbecilic Trump for undoing American democracy with a blizzard of lies

Republicans continue to follow Trump through a blizzard of lies, which he uses to scapegoat and demonize the vulnerable through conspiracy theories.
It doesnt matter what he says, and so in the 240th year in the independence of the United States, in three states by 78,000 votes, the American people by a fluke elected an imbecilic former reality TV show host and con man whose only affinity for reading anything were the Adolf Hitler speeches he kept on his nightstand, he continued.
He said the American century was coming to an end, and he placed the blame on Trump and his GOP allies.
Americas decline is beginning and we should make no mistake about this, Schmidt said. The U.S.-led liberal global order is in peril, its in threat. Will he take us out of the World Trade Organization? Will he undermine the international system that Franklin Roosevelt conceived, that Harry Truman built, that was sustained through Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama?
Its anyones guess, but the idea that tomorrow will be okay because yesterday was or last year was is a naive view of the world, he added.
And this was only a small part of what he said.
Video at the link.

(10,156 posts)So technically now he isn't an objective voice on the GOP side anymore.

(26,060 posts)As someone who can't stand to see what's happening to HIS party, who feels so strongly about it that his only option was to leave the party, his is a very important voice. Objective? That's not his job.

(10,156 posts)I might be wrong. Be he is bringing up a lot of objections against his former party and what they are doing. I'm just going with what I see is all. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.

Schmidt didn't leave the GOP so much as the GOP left him.
He isn't any less objective because of that.
If anything, he's a stronger spokesman against how crazy and extreme the Trump loyalists are.

(7,768 posts)Steve is the text-book definition of articulate.
At the same time, what he is warning about is frightening beyond words.
Just now, he called out Mike Pence as a hypocrite and a fraud!
Now Scarborough is piling on Pence as a phony Christian too!

(16,887 posts)....tell him to SHUT DOWN the Plant (in Spartanburg, SC)....!!!!
Thats, right (and VW) and shut the plants down that the Germans have employing these same people in these counties that vote and support Trump and Republicans as Trump puts tariffs on German goods and starts a trade war with Germany and show those voters who enjoy employment BECAUSE OF THE GERMANS, what TRUMPS TARIFFS AND TRADE WARS REALLY DO!!!!
I completely agree with Chancellor Schmidt....maybe Angela Merkel should take note....
That would make the message clear and targeted and would make those South Carolina voters of Trump think for a moment about the consequences of their support for TRUMP and TRUMPISTS who are the ones destroying our economy, our jobs and the standing in the world....
