Civility and respect... I think I figured it out

We treat the right wing and government as gurus, esteemed experts, and authority figures who are the personification of God's will being done on Earth

And in return

They treat liberals, minorities, immigrants, Muslims, refugees, etc. as human beings... for now

Is that how it's supposed to work?

like human beings no matter what we do. They are not capable of it. They are deficient in ways most of us cannot fathom. Something is deeply wrong with these people and there is no retrieving them, IMO.

the rest of us are second-class citizens at best.

they decide what is appropriate treatment for us.

they will chastise or fire or hurt or jail or kill if we do not show them proper respect at all times.
