I hate it with every fiber of my being. I believe in integrity, honesty and doing the right thing. I believe in playing by the rules and doing everything above board. I don't lie on my taxes.
I believe in being nice, don't call names and don't say things you can't take back.
I believe in being polite and treating others as you would have them treat you.
These are among the many reasons I support Dems. They have ethics and they're moral.
Yet, here we're talking about becoming the thing we hate. I get it. The stakes are high.
This is a war we have to win.

(13,305 posts)...it was obvious to anyone with functioning eyes and ears that they were fighting to the death as far back as the early 90's and we were still playing light catch with a koosh ball. But all the wise people kept saying "No, we can't do that......we have to go high when they go low.....trust us playing by the rules will yield dividends electorally......no really this time they've overreached......it is the end of the Republican party!!!" and anyone who said otherwise was a shrill hippie leftist.
Well, here we are. Playing nice has gotten us shit. It's gotten us less than shit. It's allowed them to destroy our country while our side dithered on about civility and keeping our powder dry and playing by the rules.
I'm glad people are finally coming around but I fear is several years too late.

(20,018 posts)We don't have to play dirty the GOP way -- lying is their main tactic and we don't need that.
But we have to treat the GOP as the enemy. As an existential threat.
If it comes to a second Civil War, we have to be prepared to kill them in large numbers.

(36,502 posts)Schumer & Pelosi called for civility right after Maxine Waters spoke outPelosi's statement sounded like she was chastising Waters. Schumer's plea this afternoon, to put off the SCOTUS nom until after November could have put you to sleep it was so void of passion & urgency. I don't know what to think about dem leadership. Are they, 1) so accustomed to playing nice & not challenging the GOP that they are stuck in that mode, or 2) they don't see Trump & GOP as the genuine threat that they are, or 3) they see the threat that Trump & GOP are & they are afraid of what will happen to them if they fight back.
