Nearly every person in government has a political position and an opinion on sitting presidents and other elected officials, including members of the FBI. Certainly judges come from political backgrounds and are chosen because of positions they have taken throughout their lives. Obviously elected officials have political opinions and state them publicly every day. Police, firefighters, school teachers, clergy, everybody has a political opinion, to one degree or another.
That does not mean they are biased. In my work, union elections often pit one member against another, and each takes a position that may either advance my appointed position or jeopardize it. I do not, and can not let that enter into my responsibility to provide service to him or her. I am sworn to be fair and impartial and a member is free to file an Unfair Labor Practice against me at the Labor Board (NLRB) if he or she thinks I'm not.
I think the same is true in the case of the individuals texting against Trump during the election. I believe they may have violated the FBI's rules of using their issued phones to do so, and I'm sure that no FBI personnel can make public political statements, but to pretend that members of the FBI don't have political positions is absurd. The rule and the law is that one cannot bring that opinion to an investigation or to one's obligated, sworn service.
There is no evidence that happened in the Trump case. All we have is that two investigators have an opinion, just as everyone does, including the House Committee investigating them. The difference is that we know that opinion.
What a crock of shit to think everyone who does anything is politically neutral. The important part is if he or she lets that influence their actions.

(6,404 posts)I'm sure there are a ton of FBI agents with more than a few anti-HRC tweets in their log. I don't hear anyone having an issue with that.
Anti HRC - patriotic.
Anti-Trump - treasonous.
That's their interpretation.
They are such asshats.

(17,497 posts)their political opinions and admit to acting on them.
However the glass house and stones thing doesn't seem to be working. Their actions can certainly be pointed out in campaigns.
