What About Civil Disobedience On A Massive Scale?

If there's no way we can use the laws and rules on the books to block this new Supreme Court nominee, what other means do we have? I was thinking about it yesterday, and the fact remains that only 30% of the public supports Trump, so that means there's A LOT more of us than there are of them. Certainly numbers must account for something. So I got to thinking, what is in OUR power, just as people, to do to stop this? Protests won't work; they'll just ignore them. We need something more.

The only thing I could come up with is civil disobedience on a scale heretofore unforeseen. I'm talking about things like organizing a massive gathering on the day of the vote and clogging the streets so the Senators can't get through to vote. Or having all the employees inside the building (janitors, maintenance workers, etc.) stand in front of the door so they can't get through. Or finding a way to cut off power and or access to the building. Just anything we can do to make it impossible for them to vote.

The reason why strikes work is because the power of the people is stronger than the people in power. We need to mobilize our "people power" advantage. Just because we're not "in power" doesn't mean we're powerless.

Some of these things may sound extreme, but we are quite literally seeing the demise of our country in real time. If Trump is allowed to put another RW shill on the Supreme Court, this country will become unrecognizable for at least another GENERATION. Marginalized people will lose ALL their rights. I'm telling you, it will be just a very short step until people like us are being rounded up on buses and taken to concentration camps. These are the things that CAN happen (and HAVE happened in other countries) when the judiciary acts as a rubber stamp for a despot. We simply cannot allow it to happen.

I'm all about doing things the right way and within the framework provided, etc., but the framework has failed us and we have to start thinking outside of the box or there will be no country left to save.

Work as slowly as possible
Make sure every rule is followed to the letter and double check
Turn your back
Keep being uncivil
Don't cooperate

That would be the money in our politics, the ability for the wealthy corporations and individuals to buy our Representatives. Jimmy Carter explained that we no longer have a Representative Democracy for this reason.

The other is the MSM’s use of propaganda to program at least 35% of our population to control us. Fox News and RW radio have been very successful in getting these individuals to not think for themselves and do the bidding of the rich and powerful.

If we could rise up and focus on fixing this we can get most of our problems solved. Instead we have been fighting the symptoms, gun violence, poor public education, attacks on the social safety net, ... until we fix these two things we will continue our downward slide!

This is my first response in about 5 years, under a different handle. I cannot start a new discussion without a few comments on other discussions.
This title is a great place to start.
I lost all respect for Reps & Dems when Obama & McCain voted for TBTF.
If one can't take care of business, they don't need to be in business

I'm an Independent(not a follower),Conservative (every tax dollar shall be accounted for),Liberal(do as you please as long as you don't harm others).

What's the saying: A fool is known by the multitude of his words.

Back to this discussion.

One can march, protest, wave banners & placards & say Hurrah for our side
spend money, traveling & eating,of course there is no unnecessary CO2 released into the air by these activities.
It's almost like a social gathering. "Aren't we having fun!"
Where does all the waste go from these events? If it's out of sight it no longer exist.

This could be too complex for some.
Stay home, out of trouble & one won't have to spend any money to get their point across.

The SCOTUS said no one can be compelled to bake a cake or pay union dues?
The system is working whether I,You,or They like it.

NO ONE can be compelled to spend one dime with those businesses that don't represent one's values.

I boycott Republican businesses.
Wonder what would happen if 63,000,000 Democrats did the same.

I say: If you want to get someone's attention,GET IN THEIR WALLET!

As an aside,
How many registered Democrats did not vote in the 2016 Presidential election?
My back of the envelope ciphering shows ~140,000,000 people of age did not vote?
Americans are free to do nothing!

Capitol building employees would want to become martyrs for a futile cause??

If they blocked the doors they would be arrested and the vote would happen anyway. And they would be fired, to boot.

tRump's base/approval/whatever may be only 30%, but that doesn't mean that 70% of the country is ready to rise up and stand in the way of the mechanisms of government.
