If they were white girl scouts selling cookies (which happens outside of almost every grocery store - and now some pot stores in California once a year) this lady wouldn't blink an eye... and might even buy a box or two. But because this is an AA kid selling candy... she feels entitled to harass him.

Private and public schools still are. The kids in my neighborhood are always selling something. I always buy some because I know how much stuff I had to sell to get through school. If it's candy or cookies, I buy it and give it to them, because many of them can't afford to buy the stuff they have to sell, and I certainly don't need it hanging around my house, calling my name.

I could understand her rant if the kid was just standing at the doorway asking for money. However, this kid is trying to sell something. I really would not care if the kid was well off considering he is selling something. I would actually try to encourage the kid.

I think all of this is a direct result of Donald Trump being in the White House. His supporters now feel free to call the cops on and berate people of color who are just trying to live their lives. That is the real reason some people voted for Trump. They understand full well what his Make America Great Again slogan meant. They knew it meant they could go back to the days of them being able to treat minorities like second class citizens.

I will enthusiastically support a young entrepreneur setting up as a micro-businessperson. But there are actually problems with kids being recruited to sell candy by unscrupulous crew leaders who badger, abuse, and exploit them. I think this is what the woman is referring to.
