His first tweet this morning, the day after the 12 Russians were indicted, is to say it happened under the watch of Barack Obama, suggesting that it is none of his business?
Never mind that the Russians are continuing their attacks under the watch of Donald Trump. It doesn't matter because they began under Barack Obama.
Blaming Obama is always a good distraction for Donald Trump. The only other distraction that works as well is to blame Hillary Clinton. But the reality is that we are being attacked and Trump is ignoring it. It doesn't matter when it began.
So, he is still going to meet with Putin on Monday and there is little doubt but that they will coordinate their response. The bottom line is that until Donald Trump admits that we were attacked by Vladimir Putin and the Russians, it is all just a distraction. Put everything on mute.

(18,964 posts)Putin is magnitudes smarter than Trump...,
I'm guessing that Putin will have a new tactic all laid out for Trump and it will become the Right Wing Meme for the next couple of weeks...
Putin is not only smarter, he's more clever and ultimately more dangerous than Trump....I really cringe when I think of him pulling the strings on this...

(73,559 posts)Thank you. I recommended the OP, and wish I could do the same for your response.
Trump worships Putin. He wants to be partners with him, as is so well documented in Corn & Isikoff's book. But Putin holds Trump in utter contempt. He has manipulated Trump exactly how one might expect an intelligence officer to manipulate a puppet.

(10,252 posts)1. He called Putin and demanded that he knock it off. 2. He expelled a bunch of Russians and closed some of their residences in the US. 3. He didn't do more because, unlike Trump, he didn't want to interfere with the upcoming election. 4. McConnell puts the brakes on doing more from the Senate. As in, no senate investigation before the election.

(2,769 posts)First that he admits that said thing did happen as described and second that he isn't going to do anything to mitigate or fix the damage. I don't know if gross negligence is an impeachable offense but he's admitting gross negligence right there.

(111,102 posts)Obama ran out of time or he could have done more about it. Trump is "grossly negligent" in defending our country against a foreign attack.

(73,559 posts)recognize that President Obama's efforts very likely stepped the Russian military intelligence from doing more. For but one example, they did not break into state and local election records for no reason. They had the ability to put the next level of operation into play. The evidence suggests that President Obama's actions put a stop to this.

(46,166 posts)He can't help himself when it comes to any opportunity to blame Obama. And in doing so this time he can't assert that Mueller is on a witch hunt. So now it's on him to do something himself.

(111,102 posts)He will make it very difficult on Putin and his oligarchs. He will be tough as nails!

(46,166 posts)Anyhow, I loved Rosenstein's timing. He said the timing was coincidental but I can't help but think they knew they had to act to put the squeeze on Trump. Given the Monday summit.
Like my husband said last night, Trump isn't a private citizen. He works for us and deciding to meet with Putin alone is outrageous. Air Force One should be turned around and forced home immediately. We shouldn't be paying over a million bucks for his golf trip to Scotland to his own golf club. But the Republicans in Congress are knee deep in complicity. So here we are waiting for Mueller or November - whichever comes first.

(5,499 posts)He does what he wants without regard to what is best for the country. It's only about what is best for him. When the dems retake the house, articles of impeachment should immediately be introduced and voted on. This would force the Senate to hold a trial. And if the first articles fail, introduce another. The constitution does not address how many times you can try to impeach.
Up until this point I've been against impeachment but he is doing far too much damage to the country.
