FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION: Maura Sullivan for Congress NH-01

Rising to the rank of Captain in the Marines, Maura spent two years stationed in East Asia before deploying to Fallujah, Iraq. While inspired by the brave young Americans with whom she served, Maura was struck by how servicemen and women were paying the consequences for poor decisions made by out-of-touch leadership in Washington and resolved to do something about it.
After returning home, attending graduate school, and working as a New England manager for a food and beverage company, Maura joined the Obama Administration: first on the American Battle Monuments Commission, then as an Assistant Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs addressing the VA’s 2014 crisis, and then in the Pentagon. In these roles, she was a leader on projects ranging from beginning to rebuild veterans’ access to quality health care and working on gender integration in the Navy and Marines, to reforming family, mental health, and LGBT policy across the Defense Department. After her service in the Obama Administration, Maura and her fiancé Marc put down roots in Portsmouth to raise a family.

Maura is running for Congress because our country faces a crisis of leadership that puts our national and economic security at risk.

If elected, Maura would work every day to bring people together, rise above chaos and bitterness, and recommit ourselves to a politics that puts people and communities first every single day.
