That choice is Democrat, retired Judge, Tim Bjorkman.

Benda (under republican Governor Mike Rounds, who is now a US senator) got caught up with some nasty rich people in Russia and China forking over money for a failed (FAILED) beef processing plant, in I think a US govt program named EB5. Rich people from other countries get a green card if they invest $x amount in American Companies. What could possibly go wrong with this?

Benda committed "suicide" during pheasant hunting season in 2013 or so.

Cal had documents at his web site that showed some kind of money Benda had "invested" with a Russian rail line or transportation company of some sort.

Somehow Benda got into the $hit with this company, which provides freight rail transportation, rail car leasing and ancillary services to clients in Russia, the CIS countries and the Baltics.

As I wrote down a quote from Dakota Free Press back in the day: "Investing in an offshore branch of a Russian rail company has darn little to do with creating jobs in an Aberdeen beef plant."
