Conservative singles have a sad bc evil, hateful, extremist liberals refuse to date them.

Trying to find love in D.C. can be tricky. If you’re a young Trump administration staffer, it might be near impossible.

GOP employees and other right-wingers have been complaining that dating in one of the most Democratic cities in America is a political minefield.

They’ve been called out, flipped off and told they are personally responsible for the death of democracy.
...
“Guys say, ‘Are you one of those Trumpies?’ It’s ridiculous,” she laments. “How did posing with the American flag turn me into a country-hating loser?”

Okaaaaaaaaaay... I'm gonna stop you right there. You work for the Trump-administration. And you, a Republican, think that Trump-voters are country-hating losers. And you wonder why Democrats would refuse to date someone who works for the Trump-administration.

“I always considered myself a more moderate Republican so some of the things we did talk about, I generally agreed with – things like frustration over partisanship, gridlock, how the discourse against certain groups of people have become unfortunately darker,” he said.

He says when the girl found out his boss leaned conservative, Jativa “was immediately called ‘disgusting’ and an ‘enabler’ of racism… of misogyny.”

Dear republican date,

Before we proceed any further, please answer this questionnaire:

1. What will you do when another Republican calls your democratic boyfriend/girlfriend a libtard?

2. What will you do when another Republican accuses your democratic boyfriend/girlfriend of wanting open borders so all the illegals can come in and vote democratic?

3. What will you do when another Republican accuses your democratic boyfriend/girlfriend of being racist against white people?

4. What will you do when another Republican talks about how Obama was born in Kenya or how he secretly was a Muslim or how he secretly hated the US?

5. What will you do when another Republican talks enthusiastically about the impending death of republican Senator John McCain?

6. What will you do when another Republican accuses republican Robert Mueller of being a Democrat?

7. What will you do when another Republican ridicules and attacks the CIA and the FBI?

8. What will you do when another Republican calls the media "enemy of the people?"

9. What will you do when your democratic boyfriend/girlfriend starts quoting President Donald Trump verbatim, in public and in front of small children?

flooded in with this administration, but the permanent population has large numbers of conservatives. True, DC's large lower-income permanent residents have been voting majority Democratic, but somehow I'm pretty sure these closed-out bureaucrats and other functionaries haven't been trying to date down.

The big problem for white supremacy nationalists and other sorts of trumpster idiots trying to fit in is the relatively high levels of education, sophistication and acceptance of diversity in DC's societies. They're trying to date above their level and don't know it.

The white parts of DC (mostly NW) are REALLY expensive now, so many government workers live in the suburbs and commute. The DC metro was a godsend to commuters out in northern Virginia and suburban Maryland. The DC bar scene is unbelievably lively, though I can't say what it's like specifically.

But just from what today's Republicans are there to do and what they advocate---who'd want a serious relationship with someone like that?

for being there at all and comment was made about how liberal it supposedly is.

As for who would, I've read that the strongest factor (by far) in choosing partners is not socioeconomic background or even religion, but ideological orientation. Not only do a degree and a professional job not create moral and intellectual equality, we now know advanced education does not make conservatives more liberal, much less the hard-core, and even extremist, conservatives the GOP has been sending to Washington for a long time now.

Btw, I'm incidentally a little disappointed to learn that with all your travels back and forth you have no first-hand experience with the DC bar scene. Perhaps you'll rectify that some time and give us a little glimpse into that world.

I'm 66 and in 3 days will celebrate being with the same woman for exactly two thirds of our lives (we met on July 25th, 1974, when we were both 22, and that was in Berlin--a little far from DC). I have to beg for a little leniency here. I am WAY out of practice.

My brother still lives in DC, and of course, we go into town to meet with friends when I'm there. Helen Thomas is no longer around, but when she was, my brother and I always met with her at her favorite restaurant, and even there, it was always crowded with 20 somethings and 30 somethings.

As for rectifying my lack of experience with the DC bar scene, even if my wife were to ditch me tomorrow, I fear I'm a little old to go bar hopping, and who would want a 66 year old nerd (I don't even drink alcohol!) like me anyway? I think I'd add a whole new dimension to the expression "strike-out."

I'm afraid any glimpses into that world will have to come from younger eyes, sorry!

It's interesting just to read that Helen Thomas's favorite restaurant was typically crowded with 20/30-olds, like something intriguing almost seen out of the corner of the eye.

I guess I do understand if you won't be obliging. My husband and I have very limited tolerance for the places our kids once dragged us to at times, but they're getting older themselves now. Where's the fun in feeling like a fuddy because you're not free to ditch your spouse for someone clearly more interesting?

My wife and I had an early dinner at a tiny hole in the wall in Provincetown, Mass. The hole inn the wall can't hold all the people eating there, so they set up tables and benches in the sand out in back, where Bulgarian students bring you your order according to the number you get at the cashier (their jaws always drop when I thank them in Bulgarian).

My wife noticed instantly that we were by far the oldest ones there. But, being Provincetown, no one cares who or what you are. Everybody is cool with everybody. Even the few cops (and there aren't many!) post this on their web site:

"We, the members of the Provincetown Police Department, work in partnership with our community to provide a tranquil quality of life. We acknowledge the uniqueness of our town [*understatement of the year!!] and tailor our ability to support its needs by providing traditional and non-traditional services. Furthermore, to uphold the citizens' trust we foster an environment of accountability, integrity, respect, and diversity."

We're heading up through MA to visit friends soon, and you make me want to visit Provincetown, but we're cruising inland this time, away from the coast/cities in high summer. I'll also be visiting open private gardens, my husband fishing, and both of us checking out a few historic sites and the best inexpensive restaurants we can find.

For ANYTHING!! (except a Republican)

You might see Rachel Maddow on the street walking by. Or anything (or anyone) else, for that matter. About the only piece of clothing you'll never see there is a tie. Well, except for ONE time. I posted about that in 2012. I was invited to a one hour meeting with Barack Obama during my vacation here, and I put on a suit and a tie for the day trip down to Washington. You should have seen the looks I got when I showed up dressed like that at the Provincetown airport! If I had shown up in a turban, a full Pashto robe, a Kalashnikov, carrying a Koran and two full belts of ammunition, I don't think I would have looked less out of place or aroused more suspicion.

not exactly the same thing by any means, but at that time another sort of be-prepared-for-anything place and I've missed it ever since.

Last time we drove through coastal northern California I got those looks. Those and other responses caused me to think my off-the-closest-rack wardrobe marked me as a suburban Republican, but when we moved to the deep south I learned how badly that misconception traveled. No one here makes that mistake.

Obama. I often think of him these days.

"Women in particular, by the way, I want you to get more involved. Because men have been getting on my nerves lately." Obama in Johannesburg.

Trump has taken a wrecking ball to America's quality of life, mores, institutions. It undermines what churches stand for, and the support for families that churches depend upon. That day of reckoning is delayed until tax support for churches dries up, and anti-choice is shown to be a sham issue. Then they'll level the churches too.

To my surprise it was new. I clicked on the link (ugh) to see if they were really still going on about this, and again to my surprise the story was from yesterday!

Did they really think we (normal sane people) would appreciate the calamity they cause with this shit? I mean seriously, their whole world view is that they hate us and anything we are about. They don't actually support anything.

You want to take that view then fine go ahead. but don't expect people to pat you on the back for voting them down river. If they aren't what they are whining we think they are. Well, they are then they had one job two years ago, and they failed to do it in large enough numbers.

So, yea, don't expect anybody to be cool with your active choice to destroy the country based on lies anymore. Tolerance only goes so far before the slaps to the face are too much to ignore. Letting trump get into office by either voting for him or not voting for Hillary seems like it was finally one too damn many for folks.

She asks it neutrally because she doesn't want the boy to know how she feels and possibly lie to her. If they support Trump she tells them they have a fundamental incompatibility and she isn't comfortable with the prospect of dating. Thanks but no thanks.

She did the same litmus test on her college roommate. So far it's worked out well!

Anyone that knows that and works for him shares his views. This makes them an enabler of racism, misogyny, and more. In this battle, you either stand by Trumps activity or you don’t. And if you knowingly do, then it’s hard to separate you from him.
