(38,436 posts)It is one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Banff and Jasper are located next to each other..The 4th one down, of Peyto Lake and Mistaya River is quite incredible. That one is taken from a visitors stop on the road between Banff and Jasper. I took a picture similar to that. That photo stop was designed for people to take that picture. Yes, that is what you see when you go to Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Canadian Rockies...An incredible vacation!! .....Wonderful Pictures.

(25,399 posts)Probably, the best image of the 4-day shoot. The observation deck was VERY crowded, so I could not use my Zeiss-Batis 18mm wide-angle. But I am quite happy with the results of the 24-105mm (@24) and my light-weight Sony A7rii mirrorless!
Also, it is a very steep hike up to the lookout point (but not that far). I saw people turning back to the parking lot after contemplating the climb. But the pain was worth it.
Next time I'll probably go later in the season, maybe even with snow. My traveling companions do Banff cold-weather hiking with ice cleats and snow shoes. And they get some incredible photos.

Please know that posts like this are refreshing for the soul, and really make a difference in how some of us find the strength to carry on in a toxic social environment such as this.
Thank you.

(14,024 posts)to remember that, for all our machines and gadgets and foibles and squabbles, we're still a crazy part of Nature - and that therein reside the roots of our connectedness.
I appreciate your kindred spirit!

It looks like prairie grass is rolling through the canyon.
Excellent photos as always!!!

(15,943 posts)I'm still somewhat of a newbie with professional camera equipment. This will help a lot with creating these stunning effects.
I'm excited with getting to try out these settings on a waterfall. The only one within the city of Fort Worth is the Japanese Garden.
I'm currently using a Nikon 7200 and using it mostly for my real estate business, but I do shoot nature whenever possible. Anytime I'm done shooting for the day and if traffic gets to congested I'll find some lake or park to wait out the traffic jams.
Keep on, keeping on.

(14,024 posts)and "heartbroken" were examples of hyperbole.
Experience has reversed those mistakes.

(5,299 posts)We drove from northern Oregon, up around the 101 to Poulsbo, WA, to Vancouver, Whistler, through Kamloops (which has a great little zoo), into Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff, back through Kamloops, and back down to Oregon.
The only problems with the trip were that it was late in season, so some places were starting to close, some roads had been closed due to slides (which is why we had to double-back), and by the time we got to Banff we were tired of driving.
So, we keep saying that one of these years, we're going to try a similar trip, but going the other way-round.

(11,564 posts)Not many miles from the glacier that feeds it. REALLY cold.
My friend did a sort of flopswan dive into that cold water, and somehow, God knows how, shot straight backwards out of the water. Damndest thing I ever saw...but you have no idea how cold it was, so...
