Dem senator 'fixes' Trump tweet on immigration

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) on Monday said he “fixed” a tweet President Trump shared on Twitter the day before.
In a tweet early Sunday, the president defended his administration's immigration policies, which have led to the separation of hundreds of migrant families, and said that "many are just using children for their own sinister purposes."
“Please understand, there are consequences when people cross our Border illegally, whether they have children or not - and many are just using children for their own sinister purposes,” Trump said in the tweet. “Congress must act on fixing the DUMBEST & WORST immigration laws anywhere in the world! Vote ‘R.’”

In response, the Democratic senator crossed out words in the president’s initial tweet with red lines and made several suggested additions.
Merkley shared the final version of Trump’s tweet below with the caption: “Donald Trump: fixed it for you.”
“Please understand, I am just using children for my own sinister purposes. Congress must act on fixing the immigration laws,” the senator said in his edited version.
