More than 100 goats have burst into a neighborhood in Idaho startling residents and captivating spectators on social media as they feasted on lawns, flower bushes and tree leaves.
The herd of goats had been at work clearing some land for the county when scores of the inquisitive animals escaped at about 7am on Friday and wandered into a Boise suburb, their owner said.
'They were on a pond that the county had hired us to clear, and it looks like they pushed through some of the wood boards and got out that way,' said Matt Gabica, co-owner of We Rent Goats, a company that provides goats to clear weeds on private and public property.
'A bunch of homeowners and a bunch of kids had some excitement.'

(8,311 posts)2. Goats are best fenced out, not in.
They've wonderful animals, but having lived with a pair and seen the herds at various intentional communities, they thrived best when fencing was made for areas where people would be using shoes worn indoors and double or triple fencing of gardens -- the goats not fenced in, but given free range of browsing outside areas poop or crops mattered.
Of course, when your organization is preserving 300+ acres high in the Cumberland Mountains, it's not like humans need a huge footprint of land free of poop in comparison to the ample habitat available.
