I am Gov. O'Malleys biggest fan..but I have a new fav for 2020 for President..

Its Vice President Biden.. with Gov. O'Malley as his running mate.. There is a reason to make this shift.. and even forgo Senators Warren and Sanders and others.. I know he is older than dirt.. But who ever takes over the Executive Branch after this nightmare.. is going to be looking at a completely broken and dismantled government.. We will need someone who can pull it together before we completely spin off the cliff and who better than Joe.. He has been up close and personal and knows the ropes.. His experience will be a life saver to bring the government back together.. I am hoping he health hangs in there.. and he is willing .. because this is going to be a mess unlike anything we have faced I am afraid..

to unite and work with responsible and decent conservatives is striking me as just what the nation's going to need to heal and pull together too. Those who can of course. Executive experience is critically important for itself also, of course, but perhaps even secondary to its ability to reassure and to symbolize what's right with America. And President Obama would be with him all the way, practically and as another powerful symbol.

I've always liked Martin O'Malley. He's weak on stage, though, soft seeming, and the VP candidate needs to be able to slice and dice while Biden glows with reassuring warmth and goodness from a pedestal. I'd support MOM gladly of course.

But I'm thinking Kamala Harris: Female, black/Midasian Indian, strong progressive and civil libertarian who prefers working from inside power structures and forming alliances to achieve, tough as Biden never has been. And alongside his signature good nature, that she looks it could be a good thing, even in a woman. Her mixed-race heritage would handicap Republican attacks. Displaying overt racism loses lots of independent votes.

At least I like to think anyway. Perhaps two very white men would fly better this time, a little retrenching from too much of the change that produced Trump. Kennedy III perhaps symbolizing generational progression...

I've thought for a while that the next Dem. President needs to be experienced, mature and rock solid to pull the US out of tRump's big swamp and rapidly start reversing the harm he has caused. Technically, I have no horse in the race, being in Oz, apart from world peace, human equality and the fight against massive corporations and corruption.

There are some younger and exciting potential candidates out there but Joe would be the next closest thing to Obama's third term.

pick someone as a running mate from across the country? I personally would love a Biden/Kennedy ticket, but I even think DE and MA are too close. What about Biden/Harris, Biden/Castro? Need to look into this more.

Biden could lay the ground to fix the trail of carnage that Trump is leaving us with in a single 4 yr term. He also knows how to deal with foreign leaders and already has a relationship with most which would start to repair US relations. This would give a younger VP on-the-job training and mentor them - especially in the foreign relations area. Then let them run for Pres in 2024 and 2028. And by God, during his single term, appoint either of the Obama's or Hillary (if any would agree) to the Supreme Court!

Of course, during his term, couldn't he appoint Obama as head of a recovery effort without having to go through any rigamarole?

Bill Gates, Bezos, Oprah, Manchin, Christ, etc. None of who would I want at the helm.

I love Biden as a human being and how compassionate he is. He cones with a bit of tenacity as well. I don’t think he is the campaigner people give him credit for. I’m not saying he is bad. I’m saying people giving him high marks in polls are often doing it because he is awesome uncle Joe. Which he is.

Peacetrain made a point above about I wasn’t thinking about that does warm me up to Biden more. That is how decimated the federal government is going to be with all of the people who make it function finding their way out the door for one reason or another. Biden is very well versed in that area and it’s big moving forward.

Last but not least, I think a lot of people I see talking him up are going to be a bit shocked to learn how conservative he is on economics. They mainly know him in that area by way of promoting Obama’s positions, which are to the left of Biden’s. I imagine Biden has slid left a little in that area but his pre-Obama track record is there for all to see.

I would vote for Biden in the general. Not begrudgingly. It would be a great vote. I can’t picture a field where I would vote for him in the primaries.

I like Bullock for the top of the ticket. If you haven't seen or heard much of him check Bullock out on Youtube. The guy has youth and charisma by the boatload. All the better to draw a contrast against Trump. We don't want to try and out-nasty or out-argue Trump IMO. Look where that got GOP primary challengers last time. It's hard to out argue someone when they just make up stuff whenever it suits them.

And if Bullock could get elected in Montana he should play well with moderates (or both parties) in the mountain west and maybe even the midwest.

This is the think that I really dislike about American politics. The campaign is constant. It never stops. It is just another commodity.

I have no problem with either Biden or O'Malley, but we are talking about an election that will take place more than 2 year from an election that hasn't even happened yet.

The mess may be considerably less for whichever Democratic presidential candidate is elected in 2020 if we can focus on getting out there and electing a Democratic House and Senate to start the repair process.

'Martin Joseph O'Malley (born January 18, 1963) is an American politician and attorney who served as the 61st Governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2015. He previously served as the Mayor of Baltimore from 1999 to 2007, and was a councilman from the Third Council District in the northeast section of the city on the Baltimore City Council from 1991 to 1999.

O'Malley served as the chair of the Democratic Governors Association from 2011 to 2013, while being governor of Maryland. Following his departure from public office in early 2015, he was appointed to The Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School as a visiting professor focusing on government, business and urban issues.

As governor, in 2011, he signed a law that would make illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children eligible for in-state college tuition. In 2012, he signed a law to legalize same-sex marriage in Maryland. Each law was put to a voter referendum in the 2012 general election, and was upheld by the majority of the state electorate.'
