While I agree it is stupid for Trump to talk to Hicks since she has spoken to prosecutors and leaves himself open to charges if he encourages her to lie, there is no prohibition that would prevent him from talking to her. No one has told Trump he "mustn't speak to her"?

Just talking to a federal witness is not "tampering". That would only occur if the witness was told to lie. Even an indicted defendant has the right to talk to witnesses as long as he doesn't try to get them to give false testimony.

He wasn't jailed just because he talked to them. He was sending them coded messages telling them how he wanted them to testify.

There is no prohibition against talking to witnesses. In fact, a defense team that does not would probably be open to charges of legal malpractice.

I've talked to hundreds of witnesses in criminal cases. You want to find out what witnesses will say in court before the trial. What law school did you go to?

I still think its worth reporting on these incidents, however. There have been so many provable lies that have been told and such a complicated trail of contacts that it makes me suspicious of all their actions.
