'In God We Trust' motto now required to be displayed in all Tennessee public schools

This is what you get with a republican house, senate & governor

Following the March passage of House Bill 2368 by the Tennessee state legislature, the motto "In God We Trust" must be prominently displayed in every public school in the state.

The bill was sponsored by Rep. Susan Lynn, R-Mt. Juliet, and approved by 81 of the 99 House members. The Tennessee state Senate unanimously passed the "In God We Trust" legislation, which was sponsored by Sen. Paul Bailey, R-Sparta, and it was signed into law by Gov. Bill Haslam in April.

Lynn spoke on the House floor to explain her belief in the importance of the motto.

"Our national motto is on our money. It's on our license plates. It's part of our national anthem. Our national motto and founding documents are the cornerstone of freedom, and we should teach our children about these things," she said.

*dashes over to der google*

Damn, it is! all the way down in the 4th stanza:

Oh, thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust":
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

The Tennessee lege has made sure the younguns will for sure see it in the classroom. I wonder if this extends to home schooled children, too? Can the legislature mandate citizens' interior decor?

When a person gets a new Florida plate, they have a choice, a association plate like to a school, sports team, ect. Or they can choose a county plate, or a plate with Sunshine State or In God We Trust. Most of the plates are affinity plates or Sunshine State plates, then county plates and last In God We Trust plates.

I would not follow that rule. I have gotten around BS like this my whole life and I would find a way to do it in my classroom if I were still teaching. When you teach elementary kids they are too young to know if you are or aren't doing what the administrators want you to do. When Bush was prez my students were never aware of it either. On Presidents Day we celebrated all the other presidents and they never noticed and neither did their parents. I am independent, a rebel, clever, creative and stubborn and I would not bring anyone's god into my classroom.
