"Totally legal" ??

Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics - and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 5, 2018

======================

Finally! Trump admits that the meeting was intended to get dirt on Hillary Clinton. It was not about "adoptions", as previously stated.

However, it was not "totally legal". It is not done "all the time". No one in our history, as far as we know, ever conspired with the Russians to steal information from the opposing Party in an American election. No one, before now, ever made deals in a quid pro quo, to use the information gathered by a foreign adversary.

No one ever went to the extremes that the Trump White House went to, in order to cover up the facts about the stolen information.

Trump said it "went nowhere". The evidence suggests that it did go somewhere. The emails were released later in the summer and fall, just as Don Jr had requested. Donald Trump's relationship with Putin grew more and more cozy.

Trump says he did not know about it! He used the exclamation mark.

The evidence shows that he did know about it. He wrote up the lie that Don Jr and all of his team were to use to describe the meeting at the Trump Tower. It was about "adoptions" and everyone was instructed to say that the President knew nothing about it.

We now know a lot more and Donald Trump has finally admitted in a tweet that it happened and why it happened.

It was very illegal.

If the Democrats fail to get the voters to the polls then it could seal the election for Trump in 2020. The economy is diffidently working in favor of the Republicans and the effects of the tariffs have not taken affect throughout the economy. The Republicans are using they few examples of improvement in select industries to claim they are beneficial as in the case of the opening of a couple of steel plants.

These people would most probably have never under intense investigation if Trump had not come under investigation. These crimes are not new, but have been going on for years. Just how did they not arouse suspicion for long? It makes me wonder is this only the tip of the iceberg of corruption and collusion with outright enemies? How many more are involved in dealing with governments that are looking to destroy the nation? I believe that the demise of newspapers that could afford to field investigations is a factor. It appears that the vacuum of investigative reporting hasn't been filled by the TV networks. The health of democracy is dependent of the knowledge of events by the citizens. The situation has been greatly compounded by the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine and multiple ownership of the radio broadcast stations along with FOX. They have a free field to spread outright propaganda without a mummer of protest. It is situation that can only lead to disaster. It is a case in which the opposition has been silenced and the voice of the extremists multiplied.

I think our investigative folks are starved of resources by some of the thieves who run our governments. It is no accident,
Look how they privatize chunks of our bureaucracy. They also put their cronies in the positions that are supposed to provide accountability and integrity. It is a complete mess.

Seems remarkable that there are so many calls to not tweet, not publish tweets, not pay attention to tweets, not to discuss/analyze/debate tweets - from many parts of the political spectrum.

17 years ago Al Gore's team was offered debate prep.

Tom Downey... Gore's debate preparer received a video tape
an envelope containing a briefing book and a videotape at his home address. He said he looked only long enough to determine that it was a book purporting to help Bush prepare for his 2000 debates and a tape supposedly of actual practice sessions. He called Carter Eskew and Bill Daley, the campaign chair, and while being very careful not to divulge any of the contents he might have gleaned, said that he was turning the materials over to the FBI.

The FBI’s investigation into the “Debate-gate” matter of 2000 led to the indictment of the woman who sent the tape. The potential sentence of 10 years and a $500,000 fine was plea-bargained down, but nonetheless, the defendant received a year in prison on charges of mail fraud and perjury.

THIS IS A CRIME.

on HRC the press would find very interesting—big speech on it coming up! Then that speech never happened because Russians talked adoptions, meaning Magnisky Act.

So meeting was illegal 4 times — in conspiracy (crime 1, & collusion is synonymous) to accept something of value to campaign from a foreign nation (crime 2) and lying to Congress about the meeting (crime 3). Then Don, Sr is involved in conspiracy to lie to Congress & obstruct investigation into meeting (crime 4).

patsy lawyer to claim that he wrote the Tweet on Trump's phone. It's not every day that someone admits to the world that crimes were committed.

Trump may be throwing his son under the bus, after all, according to Ivana, Donald barely knew him, had little to do with him, never changed 1 diaper. Then, later on, Jr. was nothing more than a coffee boy.

Whether or not we want to admit it.

If it seems like he is throwing Jr under the bus, it is because he is throwing him under the bus.

But, with Trump, this is necessary in his narrative to protect himself.

He can pardon Don Jr.

After all, who can blame him for wanting to protect his son?

He knows he cannot afford to lose a single one so he is keeping up the line that he (and his family, admin, etc) has been treated unfairly. That all of this is just a big scheme to take him down, as if he had nothing to do with any of it. Or if he did, it was not illegal. He loves to cloud the issue by floating a couple of ideas simultaneously. 1. He didn’t do “it” ....whatever IT is. 2. If he did “it”, it was not illegal.

When his base hears this, they are first encouraged to believe he didn’t do the activity, but EVEN if he did, there is no problem. It was all cool, not illegal. It is two lies rolled into one sentence but he has them so bamboozled with nonstop BS that they accept that monstrosity of a sentence as somehow true. AND an acceptable explanation for what has happened.

He will try to spin this as long as he can to keep his base close and any other followers who might be willing to vote for him. Eventually, he won’t be able to keep this alive because he is about to be buried in a blizzard of evidence that Mueller has gathered. But as long as he has breath, he will promote it, tweet it and insist that it is true until the last trumper falls away.

If the GOP win the house. Trump will never be prosecuted and will most likely win a 2nd term.

If we dont take the house then democrats will lose the country to the deplorables.

If we take the house, we will mire Trumps last 2 years in investigation after investigation.

If we take the Senate as well and Cavanaugh has not been confirmed then we need to say NO NEW supreme court NOMINEES in the last 2 years of a president or in the years of a president under investigation..

Or

No SUPREME COURT nominees for Republican presidents EVER. We have to get to the point that we WRITE the rules and then WRITE THEM.

The only way it's not a violation of the Logan Act is if the perpetrators are preemptively pardoned by the President.

And once they realize that they can pardon themselves in advance for everything they do, that's the open back door to dictatorship.

We have a cornered predator, here. Every time the perimeter closes around them, the likelihood that they're going to go for the whole noodle to save themselves increases dramatically. And the GOP will back it all the way because they are demographically doomed within the next ten years, complicit in all of this, and don't want to be hunted to the ends of the earth like their spiritual forebears.

that truckload of dirt on Hillary. Dirt that NEVER came during that meeting. Because THERE WASN’T ANY!!!!!

It was a classic bait ‘n’ switch. It was bait the Russians used and Junior fell for it. They set the trap with promised Hillary dirt as bait. They got the meeting with the key trump campaign people. And then they switched the discussion to getting rid of the sanctions that Putin hated - which was their REAL motive all along. A classic con. Classic! And nobody can get conned like another conman.

And anybody remember the immediate aftermath of that meeting - once details started leaking? The meeting only lasted for 20 minutes or so. Jared Kushner later noted that he started getting restless because he soon realized there was nothing to this meeting - at least as far as what they were interested in (the non-existent dirt on Hillary). There was no reason to stick around any longer, so he left. I think I also remember him saying something about how he pulled out his phone and was checking messages and decided to bug out early.

And why else would Paul Manafort be included in that meeting? I think he was campaign chairman at that time. Why else would you want the campaign chairman in such a meeting if not to hear all that “wonderful” Hillary dirt so he could strategize what to do with it, and how to use it - ON THE CAMPAIGN???

31. AND trump SAID that he was gonna give that speech the following Monday or so.
Mon Aug 6, 2018, 11:33 AM
Aug 2018

Time-wise, that “next Monday” would have followed the trump Tower meeting of the previous week, in which all of that purported Hillary dirt would have been delivered. And he’d have had all weekend to put together a speech chock full of details of that dirt.

Which makes another thing clear: he KNEW of the premise of that meeting, at least as far ahead of the game as when he made that speech publicly promoting his next speech that would expose all that juicy new dirt on Hillary. He trusted the word of the Russians that they were gonna deliver all this wonderful Hillary dirt. And he’d already decided he was gonna crow about it and roll it all out in a special speech early the following week and use it against her.

He knew. He knew BEFORE the meeting happened. He knew what it was about, what it was expected to deliver, and when. BEFORE that meeting happened.

He KNEW. He knew in advance. He KNEW.
