I have a question about this collusion-thing:

We know Trump Jr. et al. met with Russians to discuss getting dirt on Hillary Clinton.

And we know that people do this all the time and that it's totally legal and that nothing happened anyways.

So... Why lie about it?

If you know that what you have done would be perfectly legal, even if you actually had gone through with it, then why lie about it?

Why lie about it?

Why craft a false statement? Why give false testimony? Why all this effort if you are perfectly innocent?

Trump & Co. just cannot tell the truth even when it's innocuous.

Of course, your question is rhetorical since we can pretty much assume that the Trump Tower meeting was an illegal conspiracy to defraud the American people and adversely affect the outcome of the 2016 elections.

when it comes to a legal case, any lie appears like you're trying to hide your guilt.

however, there are many reasons to deny perfectly legal things. as for opposition research, while everyone does it, most politicians don't like to be seen as doing it, they prefer the image of taking the high road.

in this case, of course, we know it involves multiple crimes, so the lying *is* to cover up guilt after all....
