"It's actually his strategy... It's what Donald Trump thinks, and he's told his staff members. Basically, attacking black athletes, 'that's really good for me, that's really good politically going into the midterms.' "

Not all Trump Voters/Supporters are racist (my thought is maybe 1 or 2 ) but ALL racists voted for Trump.

(25,111 posts)Get him out, including Pence and GOPers in congress and states.
The USA needs to clean house.
He has an empty head, a warped depraved mind and no soul.

the pig will use the black community to feed his ego
he will attack individuals or the press to manipulate the cult of personality nutters
The Constitution the rest of our laws, money, are just tools to feed his bloated and damaged ego just as long as he stays on this side of legal.

(1,999 posts)Its part of his "voter motivation" campaign. Nothing scares and motivates old white people into going to the polls like black people up in arms about something. I totally expect the attacks upon black celebrities and house members too continue in an attempt to get protests going.
DONT.TAKE.THE.BAIT.
Please, people. No matter what he says; no matter what he does. Do not - repeat - DO NOT go to the streets and protest before November. It is what he wants old white people to see(again). People fell into this trap with BLM and they will pull the stunt again if they can. He needs "liberals" and people of color up in arms to motivate the base. Its the plan for the next 90 days. He has to distract from Russia. This is his only way - scare the sheep back into the tent.

(31,261 posts)They don't spend much time thinking about where that leads. Sometime a protest march is both important and iconic, the March on Washington, the Women's March. But most street protests just give cops a reason to brutalize protesters and only entrench the powers that people are protesting against. Sustained, strategic voting is how change is made and codified, reoublicans get that, we don't.

(31,261 posts)You have the small number of out and out racists, but there is a much larger group with some of the same racist images, just not as open. Then there is a large group that may not be racist, but get triggered by any expression of racial identity outside of their race. Trump is trying to tweak all of them.
I really think that he made a mistake to attack LeBron James. James has been the most high profile jock in the world for more that fifteen years, but he has never been arrested, or had a scandal, or had women accusing him of being their baby daddy. He has quietly given millions of dollars and his time to worthy causes. He worships his mom, who raised him from the time she was a teen until he hit the bigtime. He is by all appearances a stout family man. He is everything the socalled Christian Right claim they want to see from the Bkack community. The religious right may not care, but lots of people are watching who do and what they see Trump doing repulses them.

(82,849 posts)On all the news shows, it's always the Democrats who are blamed for partisanship and divisive rhetoric. Now that MSNBC has said it out loud, can we expect that the popular media will now be upbraiding the Trump administration for its divisive rhetoric? Will Republicans be warned that they have to make an effort to understand the opposition, and reach out to people?
Yeah. That could happen.
