(9,291 posts)I have a few years to Medicare, if I need surgery from the VA, I'm gonna die.
So, I'm going to do my check in once a year, do nothing special, look for nothing on any exam.
Wish me luck. It's spooky.
I did relay my family this article, in case they need names one day.

(11,112 posts)but this is beyond the beyond. The Vets I know are going to be deeply disturbed by this.
I think it was on Chris Hayes tonight..... apparently the guy actually running the VA isn't part of this VA group. I'm frigging sick over this. Suicides, Agent Orange coming home to roost, multiple deployments, and the Marvel Comics guy is telling Trump what should be done? Not one of the three is a veteran. Not one.

(243 posts)When will we learn that Putin is a member of Mar-a-Largo and making policy decisions as well? I'm a vet and I find this beyond anything I can fathom. Why do my fellow vets support these creatures from the sewer?

(16,886 posts)As an OEF vet that saw first hand the type of injuries that will last a lifetime, this just pisses me off. The infrastructure that we paid into and were promised is being sold off to the highest bidder...and it's barely raising a "meh" from the media....that's how fucked up our country has become. And if they will do it to vets, you can damn sure bet they won't bat an eye for anyone else!

(18,837 posts)The triumvirate of extra-governmental shot callers consists of Palm Beach doctor Bruce Moskowitz, attorney Marc Sherman, and, perhaps most notably, Marvel Entertainment chairman Ike Perlmutter. None of the three have ever served in the U.S. armed forces, although Perlmutter is an Israeli army veteran who fought in the 1967 Six Day War. What they do all possess, however, is expertise at giving Trump money; all three pay thousands of dollars a year to be Mar-a-Lago members.
ProPublica wrote that the group has been dubbed the Mar-a-Lago crowd and has reportedly helped shape both VA policy as well as staffing decisions throughout the Trump administration, all while flouting normal governmental procedure and rules. The result, ProPublica explained, is an agency in which officials must kiss the ring of this shadow trio to move on certain decisions.
On any veterans issue, the first person the president calls is Ike, one former administration official told the site. Perlmutter was also on hand at the White House when Trump signed an executive order for Improving Accountability and Whistleblower Protection at the VA in 2017.

(6,943 posts)Trump has a bunch of non-military people working in their spare time running the VA for their own personal enrichment.
To get traction, there needs to be a hook. Trump country club members exploiting sick U.S. veterans to line the pockets of other golfing buddies is the type of framing that will accomplish that.
