https://money.cnn.com/2018/08/09/media/tribune-sinclair/index.htmlThe Sinclair Broadcast Group acquisition of Tribune Media is dead.
Tribune said in a statement Thursday that it has terminated its merger agreement with Sinclair, scuttling a $3.9 billion deal that would have given the broadcasting group an even broader reach into American living rooms. It's also suing Sinclair for breach of contract.
The breakup of the deal is a stinging defeat for Sinclair (SBGI), owner of dozens of local television stations. Sinclair has been scrutinized for its ties to the Trump administration.
Good news!

We have so little choice in local news here, the thought of Sinclair owning two stations was an awful feeling.

I would hate to see WGN go the way of the rest of those "Boris Bot" stations.

The last thing we need is another Fascist extreme Right Wing Rethug propaganda news outlet.
There is way too much political brainwashing shit going on to win over the idjit moran vote already.
Less would be a big help - we certainly do not need/want more.

(23,179 posts)12. Thankfully, swamp creatures Sinclair lives down to it's bad reputation and screws the deal.
Guess they thought they didn't have to follow their own plan but someone actually paid attention and caught them cheating and nixed the deal. I'm sure they totally didn't expect that, but obviously didn't suck up hard enough to orange assmouth.
