HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -
Monday was the last day for voters to register for the primary elections, and hundreds of thousands did just that before the deadline.
The deadline to register to vote in person came at noon on Monday. The deadline to register online passed last week.
Secretary of State Denise Merrill said there was a last minute rush with many town offices, packed with people wanting to vote on Tuesday.
"I was in several offices today and they had lots of customers so there were a lot of people. We had 275,000 plus new voters since 2016, that's a record number," said Merrill.
