With school back in session, Florida schools must display 'In God We Trust'

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - With school officially being back throughout Central Florida, students may notice a change in their school's administrative building.

The 2018 Florida Statue, Title XLVIII Chapter 1003, starts that "Each district school board shall adopt rules to require, in all of the schools of the district and in each building used by the district school board, the display of the state motto, “In God We Trust,” designated under s. 15.0301, in a conspicuous place."

In February, the House approved a bill stating that every Florida school and school administrative building will have to prominently display "In God We Trust."

Passed after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Rep. Kimberly Daniels, a Jacksonville Democrat and sponsor of the bill, cited the recent shootings at a Florida high school during her closing speech on the bill.

Daniels said that God is the "light" and "our schools need light in them like never before."

beautiful beaches instead of this crap. Although, with the green goo and red tide over a big swath of those I guess that's not a possibility either.

Gotta get ‘em while they’re young.

One thing... doesn’t their god create everything? Including evil, syphillis, necrotizing bacteria, and school shooters?

If schools need light in them like never before, how about we fund them so that we have state-of-the-art facilities, and well-paid teachers in small-sized classes? That will do for a start. Once that's been in place for a little while, you can attend to boosting the minimum wage so that families of the children have enough income to lead secure middle-class lives, free of hunger and homelessness, and a progressive tax base that gets its revenue from the wealthy winners in the system, instead of dinging those just scraping by.
