(498 posts)You don't pull through in hospice. Once in a while you'll be in hospice care and either you'll move to home hospice care or you'll go home for a while. But what it means is .. there's nothing else the doctors can treat in you and now it's all about making your final days comfortable.
My dad walked into the hospital. We talked. Even argued a little while there. (well not really argued, we didn't do that) Three days later he was gone. It was expected. Cancer. But it's still a little crazy to think how fast it happens. Mom took a couple days too. We talked when she went in. Then she was gone.
Great that her family can spend those last moments with her.
I'll never understand everyone else's need to interject themselves into those last moments in a star's life.

(51,308 posts)Generally, hospice means the end is near.
The truth is the family would not have said gravely ill unless it's really bad.
One of our close friends was talking and sipping broth when here head turned and she was dead. All the signs of dying we're there. Her voice had become coarse and her feet were cold as ice.

(41,963 posts)She was sitting in a chair, though she was mostly unable to, but theyd got her up and bathed and changed her pajamas. She turned to my FIL and said Let me go and to her long time much loved caregiver and said the same, and just died.
They were devastated but man, it was easy and she was not afraid. Thats a good death in my book.

(9,350 posts)I do not mean to dampen anyone's spirits, but the person who talked to People Magazine has not seen Ms. Franklin more than a week. The most current information he has on her is from Saturday. Things might have changed since he saw her. Others who might have more recent information are telling a different story.
Hopefully, the nephew turns out to be right.

(16,672 posts)A good day before the final decline.
Of course I hope she has time left with quality of life - but I've seen that many times.
