A tragic loss of a great lady as well as a great singer.

If it is, she has lived a long time with it. Pancreatic cancer - from the time of diagnosis to death is usually 6 - 12 months. What I found out (from an Endocrinologist) was that in almost all cases, people diagnosed with it have had it for an average of 12-15 years, but not known it, as it masks as other illnesses and is hard to nail down until it is all but obvious.

I remember Sister 'Retha coming to my home town (Cleveland) back in the late 60s for a sold out show at the Agora, a club on the short east side, that held maybe 250 people. She blew us all away. What a force. What a voice. Didn't need no Marshall amps to pump up her volume.

She will be so sadly missed.

people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer do live more than five years.

Yes, she denied that she had pancreatic cancer after those stories came out several years ago. But a friend of hers said this in recent days, according to People:

https://people.com/music/aretha-franklin-gravely-ill/

Aretha Franklin — who has previously struggled with her health — is very sick and her death is “imminent,” PEOPLE confirms.

“She has been ill for a long time,” a longtime friend tells PEOPLE. “She did not want people to know and she didn’t make it public.”

A source close to the singer spoke to the Associated Press on Monday to confirm that Franklin is “seriously ill,” although they did not provide any additional details as to the severity or the cause of the 76-year-old singer’s illness.

I was watching all the figures in the audience, and then saw (and remembered) Bush. He is lucky as hell, Trump came along and made Bush the SECOND worst president: because Bush almost brought us into another depression—purposely, I believe.
Thank you, President Obama for bringing us out of that dark moment.
...and Aretha, you are the greatest singer of our time.
