Franklin Graham: Chelsea Clinton's views on abortion are like Hitler's views on 'killing the Jews'

By DAVID BADASH AUGUST 16, 2018 8:09 AM

Franklin Graham is out with a new attack, this time on Chelsea Clinton.

Graham, a pro-Trump far right wing Christian evangelist and the son of the late Billy Graham, tweeted out an article about Clinton's remarks at an event protesting Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump's nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. Kavanaugh, if confirmed, is expected to be a vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, which made abortion legal.

In the article, at the far right wing Breitbart website, Clinton makes the argument that the legalization of abortion allowed many women to enter the workforce, adding trillions of dollars to the economy since "Roe became the law of the land in January of 1973."

Legalized abortion has allowed women to work and grow their careers, and start families if and when they want, and when they are financially able.

Graham, however, unleashed an astonishing rebuke, likening Clinton's views in support of the right to choose to Hitler's views on "killing the Jews."

Graham has targeted the Clinton family. Even though he excuses Donald Trump's affairs he blasted then-President Clinton for the Monica Lewinski affair.

He's also explained his defense of Trump over Clinton by saying, "These alleged affairs, they're alleged with Trump, didn't happen while he was in office."

The General Teaching of the New Testament Is that Divorce is Contrary to God's Will, and that Remarriage Following Divorce Constitutes Adultery.

Further, whoever divorces his wife and marries again commits adultery (unless he does it because she has been guilty of fornication), and whoever marries her who has been divorced also commits adultery.

So, while Trumps many affairs are alleged, his three marriages and his two divorces are in fact not alleged! Graham and the rest of them still have to explain their continued support for a serial adulterer!!!

I must have missed something. According to the lights of the Religious Right, we’re supposed to love them because they desire a return to decency, right?

allowed many women to enter the work force isn't a very good one. Women, including married women, including married women with children, had already moved into the workforce in large numbers by 1970. I recall noticing that myself when I entered the workforce in 1966. In a very short time young women went from working only until they got married, or perhaps were pregnant with their first child, to returning to work shortly after the baby was born.

A lot of financial issues pushed women into the workforce in that time frame and kept them there, as well as the opening of many career paths that hadn't existed before, thanks in no small part to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Something that is largely forgotten is that Congress actually passed a bill for universal childcare in 1971 and Richard Nixon vetoed it, saying moms should stay home with their kids. Well, the moms weren't all staying home with their kids by that time, and that veto simply insured families (especially single moms) would struggle mightily to afford to pay for the day care they desperately needed because they absolutely had to work to survive.

Contrary to what anti-choice people think, abortion rates in the immediate aftermath of Roe v Wade were the same as before. It's just that women could now get a safe and legal abortion and were unlikely to die or be maimed from an illegal abortion.
