what various campaigns are going to do about Donald Trump. So far, Jeff Johnson, the Republican candidate for Governor is going full-on butt kissing of the President, who is praising him to the moon. Apparently, Johnson thinks Trump is his key to the Governor's mansion.
I think he's badly mistaken, and that his kneepads are going to backfire on him. Sure, he'll get Trump's 30% of moron supporters, but Minnesota is having second thoughts about the yellow menace in the White House. Our soybean and corn farmers are not all that amused just now at Trump's trade war. Plus, a lot of MN Republicans are more center-aligned than right wing. A lot of them are going to either stay home in November or vote for Tim Walz, the Democrat, who is a nice guy. Minnesotans like nice guys.
Then, there's the 2nd Congressional district, where Trump Toady and erstwhile right wing talk show host, Jason Lewis, has been brown-nosing Trump all along. He barely won in 2016, and he's running against the same Democrat he did in 2016. Again, the farmer and ag vote may just not be there for Lewis.
There's still time to see where the trends lead, but Trump's not the draw here people think he is. Besides, Democrats turned out in much larger numbers than Republicans in the primary election.
