'Lord, help me:' Omaha man injured while attempting to rescue a kitten has relied on his faith

Even as he fell, Peter Nelson knew his life would be changing.

When he hit the concrete, searing pain gripped his back.

"Lord, help me, Lord, help me, Lord, help me," he prayed.

Nelson, 38, who is married with five children, was severely injured last week when he fell more than 20 feet while trying to rescue a kitten trapped below a steel grate outside the Omaha World-Herald Building.
