If Manafort was found not guilty couldn't prosecutors move for a mistrial?

If they could demonstrate that any of the jurors heard Trump's opinion of the trial or heard that the judge was threatened?

They could claim the jury was unduly influenced by the president's statement.
Also the jury might assume that they would be in danger if they found Manafort guilty so they voted not guilty.

Since the verdict has to be unanimous if only one juror was affected it could have changed the outcome.

It seems that any trial relating in any way to Trump will need to have the jury sequestered so they aren't affected by the ubiquitous news that permeates the country.

They could move for a mistrial *before* the verdict is returned, but in practice that rarely happens.

But it would still be an indication that future Trump related juries should be sequestered.
Particularly when Trump will always make biased comments trials that are impossible not to hear.

Crazy not to sequester the jury with that kind of defendant.

That this has not happened already. If the jury is “scared” and “afraid” as the judge has said how can any decision the jury makes be viewed as based solely on the evidence and not intimidation.

What was this judge thinking 🤔.

And remember, he is charged and has been tried on 18 separate counts.

7. Just to be clear, if it's just one holdout, that's a hung jury, not a "not guilty" verdict

If they all agree he's "not guilty", then that's it, mueller can't try again on the same charges.

If they don't agree, say because one juror was bribed or threatened, then it's a hung jury, which is considered a mistrial. The prosecution could try again, though that doesn't often happen unless new evidence comes along.

12. Yes, verdict has to be unanimous, otherwise it's a hung jury.

In case of a hung jury, the defendant can be tried again.
