Breaking, hard: White house briefly evacuated in watery morning incident

The oval office and the west wing were briefly evacuated around 9:46 a.m. Thursday morning after office workers reported an unusual event.

White house security was called, and was surprised to find that the event involved the president.

West wing secretary Edith Bookbinder reported that this was beyond his normal white house behavior, and it came as a surprise to her.

“At first, I noticed a wet spot on the carpet in the hallway, and then, as I went down the hall, several people were wiping their faces on their sleeves, looking up to see where the water was coming from. It wasn’t until I heard him turn the corner and say, “Hey, Gerald! Make America Wet Again!” that I realized the president held a loaded super soaker.

The ordeal lasted several minutes, until Mr. Pense convinced him to take the water gun outside to the rose garden, where he turned the gun on the gardeners and cleaners. It was a hot day, so they didn’t mind getting hit, as much. Minutes later, white house security gave the all-clear.

When questioned, whitehouse press secretary Sarah Huckabbee Sanders clarified that the president was just trying out a gift for his son, Eric, and got a little carried away. “Previous presidents have all had their ways to relax and engage with staff, and this is just another new way the president shows he’s better at it than any president ever was. He never misses.”
